Well, we returned to school today and this is how
mandatory PE will be handled at my school. Our PE teacher
will double up classes twice a week. On the other days,
the classroom teacher will be responsibile for providing
PE. We have been dictated a time in our schedule to do
this and this will be a structured activity. There will
be no more recess. In my case, 15 minutes has been
scheduled before lunch, and 15 minutes after. The problem
is I have been left with ZERO minutes to get them ready
for or to the cafeteria, so there is no way they will get
that 15 minutes. I guess I will do a quick "shake break",
then we will go to lunch. After lunch, I will set up 2 or
three activities: kick ball, jump ropes, etc. There's no
way they can all do the same activity and be active. I am
curious to hear how other Florida schools are handling
this. Dawn/FL

the governor mandating how much, therefore, cutting into my
instructional time. Since the beginning of the year when...See More

Yeah, we are basically doing the same. I think we should address a
bigger problem - the crap food they serve in school cafeterias. They
make it 30% fat and justify their menu by saying that's what growing
kids need to stay healthy. I just don't buy it! Schools elsewhere have
implemented salad bars where the kids...See More
