With reader's workshop, daily 5, and reading first centers going on, are there any schools that still use the 4 blocks as they were originally written? I have tried workshop, daily 5, and the dreaded centers. I really enjoy teaching 4 blocks style and am wanting to go back to that. As long as student achievement does not go down, our principal is okay with whatever method we use. Regardless of what method I have used (except centers - yuck), my kids have always scored well in reading. I have found that the 4 blocks method creates more of a positive and encouraging classroom for the children where they are more on task during reading assignnments. Classroom management is much better with the 4 blocks method.
