Last year was my first year being a writing teacher in 4th
grade for rotations. I decided to use rubrics for
assessment but sometimes graded using percentages. I
learned about rubrics about 6 years ago in college and
have many examples. What I am wondering is should I be
using the points to grade every trait depending on the
rubric or do you use the point system as one grade. For
example, if a student meets all the requirements, he gets
a 4/4? I was grading each trait out of 4 points, is the
correct? Grading writing is a lot harder than I
imagined. Also, if you have any short-cuts to grading
writing, please let me know. Greatly appreciated!
