Are there any websites re: sentence diagraming? My TE textbook covers plenty of diagraming (work for the students), but not much on how to actually diagram them or explain it. Thanks!

Yes, I do sometimes diagram sentences in "real life." If I'm reading a dense article with very long sentences, diagramming can help me determine what the author's trying to say. (It's as useful for teaching reading as it is for teaching writing.)

connie Some of us "grew up" on diagramming sentences. Those were the years when people could easily take a foreign language and transfer their understanding of English grammar to a new system. With diagramming going by the wayside, students are not as prepared to learn a new language. I used to love diagramming and then learned to diagram much more effect...See More

MB I think of diagramming sentences much as I think of algebraic equations. Do I use algebra constantly in real life?
