Our school uses it through 5th gr and it seems to work well. I think there are several examples of the different writing, so it wouldn't be all 3rd grade samples. I use the Primary Steps version and we like it. I have a new copy that I got when I attended a training. It's the 2nd edition. If you need to buy your own I would be willing to sell it
