hahaGenerally speaking, weeks to months. Around 3-4 weeks seems fairly typical (if there is such a thing) but the time of year, the fact that you are with DoDEA already, etc.make it very difficult to predict. Maybe someone with more more recent/relevant experience will post.
DDESSHopefulSo, the universe answered the question with "next business day." I put in for orders and with a report date of 6 weeks, am now hoping the orders happen ASAP. :)
I made some edits to my application and uploaded a couple more items. Do I have to do anything else to refresh the document, like resubmit it, or are those changes in there a visible now?
Greetings from Japan! I am currently a DoDEA teacher and was attempting at updating my EAS application for the new year, however it wont allow to due to HR processing my application. How do I go about updating it if I wanted to apply in a different location?
IcanreadUnfortunately, as a current DoDDS teacher, you are not able to choose overseas locations on your application. You can only choose stateside locations. Apparently it used to be possible to update your EAS application to apply for overseas positions but it is no longer an option.
It doesn't really matter all that much in reality since you can't generally apply for or be considered for other overseas positions while teaching in an overseas location, regardless of what your EAS preferences are. The one rare occasion there was an internal overseas posting for a position I was qualified for/interested in, I had to fill out separate application forms, get my principal to sign off on no backfill required, submit an updated resume, to the principal at the school with the opening, etc. And then it turned out that they had a local candidate all but picked out anyways so I'm not sure why the internal announcement even went out (since they hire locally without announcing openings all of the time).
So my question is: Is it generally frowned upon to upload a PDF of one's resume or cover letter? Or just unheard of? I understand their online application program is coded such that they get the information they need. I'm just another applicant, I get that. However, the only reason this bothers me is because it doesn't include much room for job description. My current job is a bit different from a traditional classroom, and I am rather proud of the aspects of my job that have grown my classroom management and force on me experience that a lot of traditional classrooms don't provide. Being able to provide a resume would allow a place to showcase those responsibilities, even if they look over it.
Should I just forget it and rely on the notion that, should I get a referral, I'll be able to share these documents with those who might care about them?
HelpOthersLike haha said, make sure the information is included in the application itself. If you are asked to interview, you may be asked to send a resume at that time.
I'm currently an undergraduate student majoring in early childhood education and I'm thinking about becoming a DoDDS teacher overseas. I have a couple questions. (1) How do exemptions work in the over all hiring process in Dodea? For example, if you have an endorsement for special ed, how is it taken into consideration?
(2) Are you required to be a licensed teacher or who is exempt? As I expect be a soon-to-be newly minted teacher, I would have very little work experience to present on my resume, how is this viewed by HR?
MsUYou are probably qualified for a TA position in prek or prek sped or for a teacher position in a daycare on a base. If you live near a base that's where I would start! Those are posted on USAjobs too.
I was asked two questions 1. how do you communicate with p...See More@kyjan I only selected countries where I would be comfortable living and took the first job offer. I wouldn't pass up on an offer because on the tentative offer it states that if turn down this offer you are no longer qualified for the any position for the rest of the school year.
I was asked two questions 1. how do you communicate with parents and students? 2. Describe a situation in the classroom, how you handled it, and what you would do differently next time. They said that I would be asked the other 4 questions during the second interview but never had one.
Are there any updates on stateside closures, particularly Quantico? I read an article about a year or two ago, mentioning that Stateside schools would be closing and Quantico would be the first to go. Of course I hope this does not happen. Any updates?
hahaI haven't heard anything concrete about Quantico (or any other stateside schools) closing. The last I heard was probably that same article that you read.
Maybe someone has read or heard something that I missed.
I am now working through all the paperwork. I remember in the past seeing people talk about having to get fingerprints done. Where is this in the process? Is there any possibility that I am exempt from that because I have military affiliation. I have an active dependents card and was curious because I received an email that says I qualify for PCS orders.
That email also said that I need to submit a terrorist training cert and my daughters' birth certs. She also asked that I provide a date for my kids to come separately if I am choosing that. I am actually interested in this so that I can buy a car, find housing, and get my shipment in before they come out. There wasn't a date on anything that I saw though so I don't know how to answer that question.
This seems to be moving faster than I anticipated for some reason. I have the passport apps but it says I need an offer letter or orders to submit that. I completed sooooo much paperwork today though through the on board portal. Does anyone remember this part of the process? If so how long from here did you receive orders and how long from here to did you actually report?
@mary to theMy HR rep said I could give her a date for my girls later. I was told that if my TLA and the house in choose are in different school districts my kids would have to change schools. We will only be there for the last quarter which would be awful for my girls to change schools twice when they could just stay here with my parents and finish out their year. They are also only 5 and 7. My kinder struggled a bit in the beginning of the year adjusting to school but is doing great now. Don't want to mess that up either. I would also have to drag them and their car seats car shopping, house hunting, furniture shopping eetc. In the freezing cold (we are from Phoenix hahaha).
Ok, I'm thinking positive! I'm curious how early in the spring will referrals start coming? Also what all do you need to do in February when you update the application?
Basically, you just go through and review each section and hit submit. You should also re-upload your documents, make sure you have the year set for 2020-2021 and then hit the big submit. If all check marks are green, you should be good to go.
