DODEA SLIPS YET AGAIN IN "BEST PLACES TO WORK" LISTING
Results of the 2019 "Best Places to Work In The Federal Government" survey are out and, once again, DoDEA has sunk further in the listing.
The Agency's 2019 ranking was #366 out of 422 workplaces across the entire government. That puts DoDEA in the bottom 13 percent of agencies.
Last year, DoDEA was ranked 357 out of 415 workplaces.
DoDEA was ranked in the bottom quartile on nearly every workplace category, a far cry from the days over a decade ago when the agency was routinely ranked in the top half or top quartile of workplaces.
Given the high level of dissatisfaction in Stateside schools over the Agency's illegal contract implementation and imposing of 24 unpaid additional hours of work time, as well as its efforts to illegally strip due process, grievance and other rights from its Overseas workers' contract, it is likely DoDEA will sink even further toward the bottom of the "Best Places To Work" list in the years ahead.
The need for change in how employees are treated and how our schools are run is obvious. DoDEA claims to be "data driven" but continues to ignore negative data such as this survey's results.
I was reading the meeting minutes between my district superintendent and the NEA. One of the hot topics was the transfer round. Rumors of Tom Brady saying that the transfer round is coming back this summer are true, however it will look different. No other details were provided.
As 2019 draws to a close, having recently spoken to FEA president Brian Chance and provided an update to OFT president Linda Hogan, I would like to share the status of the Teacher Transfer Program.
As you may know, the Teacher Transfer Program was suspended prior to school year 2019/20. At the same time, I initiated a review of the program. We are now more than halfway through that review.
There were several reasons the Teacher Transfer Program was suspended; chief among those were concerns about the equity, efficiency and effectiveness of the program. I realize the importance of a transfer program to our educators, but I believe that it must achieve three important outcome objectives:
* Increase transfer opportunities for educators who are in less desirable locations (e.g., unaccompanied or "hardship" tours).
* Reduce the human resources manpower required to administer the program through technology improvements.
* Complete the transfer program process early enough in the calendar year to support a reasonable timeline for hiring new teachers and getting them in the classroom before the school year begins.
There are also external factors that may determine the viability of moving forward with the Teacher Transfer Program. The Department of Defense is currently conducting a Defense-wide Review of DoD agencies and field activities, down to the internal program-level. DoDEA's Teacher Transfer Program is one of the initiatives that is currently under review by the Department of Defense Comptroller and the Secretary of Defense. Ultimately, this review will determine whether we are able to move forward with a revised Teacher Transfer Program.
We anticipate that by school year 21/22 we will have the information needed to determine whether we can reinstate a revised version of the Teacher Transfer Program.
Thank you for your patience during this process - my goal, as always, is to provide fair and equitable treatment of our educators.
Thomas M. Brady
Director
While you read this, don't forget that this was the man who laid of thousands of teachers in Rhode Island.....Google it.....
hahaIt's generally difficult/impossible to sue the federal gov't in most circumstances. The most they can do is file grievances, etc. and unfortunately the governing authorities/mediators are not particularly sympathetic to teachers/labor in general.

Although I have experience in leadership positions, I was unable to give satisfactory responses to all the questions provided in the questionnaire. Will this be a problem? I had five or six where my response was It don't have any experience with this activity', or something like that. Thoughts?
My Assessor position was not qualified over a month ago and my other licenses have been pending for that month. How long does it take? And does anyone have an email address I could send that question too? Thank you!
