I had two interviews Thursday, but both were for something I'm certified in but never have taught. Now I'm wondering if there is even a realistic chance I'll get an offer. Has anyone else had this happen and actually get an offer? I'm trying to stay hopeful.
HelpOthersI suggest you contact the school. The school secretary or registrar may be your best friend for a while and can connect you with a sponsor. You can ask to talk to the principal if they don't seek you out.
afwifeI saw from an earlier post that you are going to Ft. Jackson. Please note that there is a leadership change. The new principal's first day was the 5th! It is best to just get here and be ready to work. Everything else will fall into place.
ecd5@Mary I was thinking about Ft. Campbell, but I think they have the same situation-one newer school and one older. Good point about the 21st century school building! Thanks
kiki08Fort Campbell has 4 elementary schools, 1 middle, and 1 high. 2 of the elementary schools are 21st century, and the high school opened last year, it's amazing. Each school has its own ups & downs, but students attend the elementary school they are zoned to.
I interviewed on August first and the principal said they were planning to submit their choice to HR on August 5th. How long does HR typically take to notify the candidate with a tentative offer? I know it is only the 6th, but it is so hard to wait and know nothing.
New Hires! How is your in-processing going? I wonder if we are all assigned the same person? Do they answer your questions? If you are going overseas from DDESS does the background check go a bit faster? What has been your experience so far?
Do any insiders have any updates on the status of transfer rounds? Is there actually a review happening? Would a job promotion into admin be a better option?
Yeah, I think you have a handle on the situation. It's a judgement call but I think your Plan A is Promotion, Plan B is Ddess with a return to Dodds, and Plan C is transfer round. Of couse, if HQ announces a generously funded transfer round in December, then you can re-evaluate, but for now, you need to make your own way.
Others can hope, and wait, and be naively optimistic. But it seems like you have already figured out that nobody is going to get you to Italy, except you.
I want to tell friends and family about my tentative offer but before I do what could make it so I do not receive a firm offer? I'm already a DoDDS employee. Is the firm offer based only on the criminal background?
keylabI told my family friends when I received my tentative offer because I was super excited and I knew my background would clear being that I always had to have the check for my past teaching positions. Feel free to share :)

AngelaPart of my quals were verified within 3 days of submitting app, and then the rest took 6 months. I did not receive referrals until the day all quals were verified.
