I have an application on DoDEA. I am only able to use the target of teaching positions. I am looking for jobs as an Administrator as well. Where do I apply for all of the jobs? I have applied on USAJobs and all I see is received. Please help lead me in the right direction.
My EAS account has not been frozen still, I did get ...See MoreI never got any sort of email last year stating they we filling positions...referrals just stopped. I received a notice for a referral for Cuba the third week of July (I had already interviewed for a different possible location in Japan though) Did any of you get that notification also?
My EAS account has not been frozen still, I did get a tentative job offer already, and have not received any other referral notices in a couple weeks. Not sure if that info helps any of you, but hopefully it does. Keep hope! I heard from another SLP her friend was retiring soon, but I have no idea what country or school, or month she will give her notice :)
Why is it that DoDEA sometimes advertises jobs on USAjobs? It seems that there would be a pool of qualified candidates in EAS if admin wanted to pull a list, given the large number of applicants.
hahaNot necessarily. I have seen USA postings for positions that I know have qualified applicants in the EAS system. Sometimes they just want to generate some more action in certain categories for some reason.
IcanreadThat makes sense. There was a pre-k job just listed today in South Carolina (on Usajobs). I would think there would be plenty of qualified applicants in the system for it.
The employer completes the form and sends it back to you. You generally then just hold onto until you get an offer, in which case you send it in the HR. Someone also said they uploaded the forms to their EAS.
Just an FYI, I already accepted my firm offer 2 weeks ago and was just offered a different tentative offer in a different country. I contacted HR and was told I get to choose which position I want.
IcanreadThe nice thing even about the teaching position is that as a single mom, you will be making a good wage, as well as having free housing and a cost of living allowance (enough for us to cover about half or more of our groceries). Good luck with your decision!!
hahaVery interesting (and one reason I try to use words like generally, should/could and stay away from words like never, impossible, etc.). In this case, I do wonder if HR is allowing the choice (rather than it just happening in spite of HR) because one is a teaching a position and one is an admin position. In any case, good luck with your decision.
HelpOthersIcanread is absolutely correct. Your HR person should give you all the information you need. If you live near a military facility, you can go in person to get much of it done. Otherwise, there are websites you can use.
If they are basing your salary on current salary, then write a letter explaining why Last school-year's salary shouldn't be used. It would make sense for them to use it as the step before this upcoming increase. Try to talk to other ISSes stateside about their experiences.
I have accepted an Interview for Ramstein, Germany but now I'm filled with questions and anxiety. Can anyone tell me a little about the area? Is there on post housing for civilians? Will my children be permitted to attend school on post? What is cost of living like?
Does DoDEA only use certain airlines or how does it work? I'm wanting to bring my dog with me if hired. She is 6 pounds. Definitely would like to bring her in cabin if possible.
Again, in some cases, I'm sure it's cheaper to fly yourself with your pet on a non-US airline. No, you won't be reimbursed, but if you're paying $3000 (what we were quoted per pet through a 3rd party shipper), it may be advantageous to do it that way.
Kreeble@mary I have been thinking about that and the best I can come up with is my drivers license and permanent address is still Colorado so I'm hoping that will stick. Does that sound viable?? I wont make it if this is my HOR.
HelpOthers@artkreeble and you have a transporation agreement that got your to PR, so maybe use that to get you back to Colorado, so they can move you from Colorado and have that be your HoR?
There is a separate recruiting cycle for admin positions. Look for the announcement on USA Jobs or set up a notification (if they allow that).
