HelpOthersThis timeline was not even correct as of January 30th. Make sure you are reading the official guidance at both Iwakuni and the military facility where you would stay in Tokyo.
primarypodThere should be a Covid Team at MCAS Iwakuni specifically for DoDEA. Contact your school secretary to confirm that you are following the most current protocol for your specific location. The only US Government managed hotels in the area are on MCAS Iwakuni.
This is a commercial SATO routing with a 28 day quarantine period -- 14 days NRT Airport and 14 days Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni Airport. There are no direct America to MCAS Iwakuni flights until after 03/10/2022. I decided it was best to get to the new duty post ASAP in case there are further delays due to CoVID-19 Pandemic. I had to travel within a minus 7 plus 7 days of the 02/28/2022 date shown on my PCS Travel Orders or start the PCS Orders process again. There may or may not be a federal government pause on 03/11/2022 due to congressional funding issues. I decided to move ASAP.
Timeline: 12/16/2021 received unsolicited DoDEA job offer from USAJOBS. Received clear criminal bkgnd chk last month. Received PCS Travel Orders last week. Received electronic E-tickets via email today.
Thomas PThe area you're in also heavily plays into it. If you're applying for a job in a city or some other highly-populated area chances are there's going to be a lot of people looking for the position, but if you're out in a rural area you're likely to have little to no competition for the spot.
Unlike my previous two DoDEA services, the current service does not allow me to pick and choose flights from America to Japan. The only way to avoid a 28 day CoVID quarantine is to fly into an American military airport in Japan. Then, I must only endure a 14 day quarantine on base, but I will not be allowed to leave my base hotel room until the 15th day.
I do not have state licensure but have been a preK and kindergarten teacher in independent schools for 19 years. Is it possible to work for DODEA without being licensed??
...See MoreReceived my first DoDEA job offer from USAJOBS.GOV site. Suspected fraud because the subject line read [Non-DoD Source] Tentative Job Offer for TEACHER (MIXED SECONDARY0, TP-1701-CG, Iwakuni, Japan
The job offer is from US Army,- not from DoDEA EAS. I completed US Army forms for this DoDEA position on a US Army Airbase in Japan..
I am an US Forest Service Teacher on an US Job Corps Center with two government email accounts. The US Army personnel contacting me have ARMY.MIL and DoDEA.EDU email accounts.. Transferring between these jobs will be seamless without loss of duty days or federal leave earnings.
Conclusion: Persons seeking DoDEA jobs should also have an application active on USAJOBS. In the end, I will be both US Army and DoDEA.
I would prefer to not let my current employer know I will apply for the 2022-23 school year when it opens in EAS. If I am able to obtain an interview, I would then prefer to add them. Is this okay?
LBC7199haha, this is truly helpful and I really like the way you suggested to spin it to admin. I think my admin would be supportive but I know it is a longshot but it is good not to blindside them too. Thank you for the awesome advice.

hahaAgree. Maybe check and see if any schools in your state/county will give you college credit on a transcript for some of that work. Unlikely that they will and/or that DoDEA will take it, but worth a few calls/emails.
I am a current DoDEA teacher, I have been applying for admin openings on USAJobs and have received many referrals for some of the postings but never an interview. My question is, if it looks bad/unprofessional to contact the community superintendent? Would it burn the bridge for that region or others? TIA!
