sugarcubewsMathlete, I have read in the posts a couple of time about checking the application after receiving requests for referrals after an interview. Why check the application and what will it say?
Yesterday I received a referral email for Assistant Principal positions in Okinawa (a dream), Germany, and the UK. I have been hoping for this for so long! Does anyone have any news as to which schools in these locations have AP openings? THANK YOU and GOOD LUCK to all!!!
I thought my application was flagged by the admin I had trouble with. I learned that is not the case. I knew something else was wrong since all is good and I should be showing up on lists.
HR told me this: Hiring date started June 1, 2019.
Principals get a list of 25 people. There is no apparent
method to those 25 that show up n that list.
Make sure your school year is correct. (2019-2020) or you
won't show on current lists.
Also, things are changing in the future for hiring.
HelpOthers@warmachine7954, in the tab where the documents are uploaded, at the top of the page in red, it says you must upload the transcripts and teaching certificate for consideration. When you do this, one of the columns states the school-year to be considered.
Also, I'm really only interested in oversea positions and missing a stateside call doesn't concern me too much. However, could I have missed a interview call for an overseas location being set up through a stateside school? I haven't had an oversea interview, as of yet, so I'm unsure of what type of numbers to look out for.
Sandra09Mary, I'm curious do they typically interview 3 people for a position? You said above that they go down the list for the the first three that respond.
LolaTeachSometimes they already have a preferred candidate in mind, but they still need to interview a minimum number of candidates in order to move forward in the process. You never want to be the 'filler' but it's hard to tell.
Is it possible...See MoreI just interviewed for a school nurse position in Japan! The principal was great and the interview seemed to go excellent. I just found out that he immediately sent out for my references. I'm hoping this is a good sign....I'm really excited!!!
Any thoughts??? Good sign or is this just protocol but also a good sign?
Is it possible to actually get orders cut and get out there for school's start (less than a 2 month turn around)?
Thanks in advance for any responses. I'm new to the DODEA system.
I have been asked to interview at two schools in Ft. Bragg and I'm uncertain on what to do. I have my hopes set on going overseas. If I interview and I'm offered a position and not take it, I will no longer be able to interview for other schools correct? My application will be locked for a year correct??
I have known many people who started sta...See MoreIf you interview and turn down the position, your application will be locked for the rest of the year unless they cannot fill a position you qualify for and they need you. As for moving yourself, look into whether you can afford it before you take the interviews. You can still cancel the interviews.
I have known many people who started stateside and later accepted a position overseas. A few have moved form Fort Bragg.
Those hiring overseas may look for people already familiar with DoDEA's policies and procedures and understand the IEP system used by DoDEA.
If you have more than 10 years of teaching experience, working for DoDEA stateside at least adds to the starting step. Even though stateside will start you on Step 5 at the highest (if you have 5+ years of non-DoDEA teaching experience), you will continue to add steps.
For example, you start stateside on step 5 (max) and you have more than 10 years of non-DoDEA teaching experience. When you eventually go overseas, you would have started on step 11 (their maximum for non-DoDEA) PLUS however many years you are at Fort Bragg full-time. So, accepting a state-side position now can help if you are at or above 10 years of experience.
On the other hand, if you are using Vet Preference, you can only use it to ENTER an organization. It will not help you if moving within DoDEA (stateside to overseas).
WanderlustMary.. I have 20 years of experience. I want a real change in my career and I'm looking for a change of location. I will have to figure out the technicalities if offered a position. I do have the possibility of selling my current home if needed. I just want to get my feet in the door.
What do I have to do? Do I need to go down to Washington D.C. and wait outside in a tent? I see a job in Jacksonville, NC for Instructional Systems Specialist (Autism), and the job description, but what do they do every day???
Has anyone made a referral list or interview with their qualifications still in pending? I spoke to HR and they said not having my qualifications verified is not a big deal. but I still worry it will keep me off lists.
SanDiegoTeacher@Angela thanks, that is what I was afraid of. I should have applied months ago. I only applied about 8 weeks ago, so I am probably out for this year. I will try and remain hopeful.
SanDiegoTomI too have received referrals over the the past few weeks from: 2 Japan, 2 Korea, 1 Belgium, 1 Italy and 1 stateside all in SPED but no interviews, as of yet. Things do seem to be moving along.
Just curious....how many referrals do people typically receive? I started this process back in December and have received many email referrals notifications last week, but no requests for interviews yet.
educatormamaYes, 5 from Bob Hope ES!! You too? I noticed each one had a different referral list number, so I'm not sure if it's a glitch or if there are actually that many openings, what do you think?
