I understand. Maybe try applying for schools at larger bases, if you area is narrow. Keep in mind that as a local hire, you are competing against military spouses who may use spousal preference. The good news is, that souses can only use SP for one job per your, so not everyone can use theirs.

You can apply but they may not authorize moving expenses to a new duty location if you have not fulfilled your current travel agreement.

I really think the job highly varies from school to school. At my current school the ET is basically tech support. I don't think I have ever seen them leave their office.
I wonder how often these positions open up? I just got endorsed as an ET. Maybe if the transfer round comes back I could transfer into an ET spot?
