Obviously DODEA doesn't specify an age limit for new hires. I'm wondering though if there is a de facto age limit, albeit perhaps not de jure? Have you guys who are working with DODEA noticed that there are no older teachers hired? (By that I would mean over 50 and also hired as teachers not as admin? Thanks for your insights.
They sent out an announcement for 8 tea...See MoreIt is one of the nice things about DoDEA. The cost of hiring a more experienced teacher is not apparently an issue, as it can be in many districts and int'l schools.
And, DoDEA principals are used to teachers having a career (or half a career) as a teacher in the states before joining DoDEA.
They sent out an announcement for 8 teachers retiring this year from Ramstein ES. Between them they had something like 300+ years of total teaching experience (45, 42, 40, 38, etc.).
Worldwide EducatorHopingForNews.. The OF 306 is the Declaration of Federal Employment. Basically a questionnaire almost like a mini background check.☺️
I'm sure this was asked previously, but would it be ok to email principals of schools asking to be considered for a job? If so, what could be some possible questions? Thanks. (So glad I found this chatboard!)
KMCIf you received your eligibility email, then why not show interest in a school? Reaching out personally could be the thing that gets you that call. (from an admin perspective)
Do only a certain number of years of experience count for starting salary (if I was lucky enough to be hired)?
I was super excited looking at the salary schedule, I have 17 years of (Non-dodea) experience and an Ed.S, but if only 5 years of experience count, my salary with dodea would be comprable to my current salary.
Hello everyone!! 1st post, new member and all. I'm currently teaching middle school in Texas, moving to high school next year, will be complete with my Masters in C&I Science next year.
Everyone talks about needing multiple certs, guessing the same applies for science teachers?
Joe WachsHave you submitted your transcripts for review. See what HR says, can't hurt to try. I got hired for science with only 1 year teaching experience. My degree was in Physics so I had enough math to add a math cert. My principal was specifically looking to fill a position for both science and math.
I just received notice that I am qualified to teach Middle School Math. What are the next steps when applying for positions. I am new to this process. Thanks in advance for your input.
Hello! I am teaching Music and Korean public school 13 years in NJ
I really want to get a DODEA job. What do I need in order to be more qualified and get a teaching job in DODEA. So Haha, can I talk to your private email if possible? My email is younmusic1974@gmail.com Thank you.
Hey everyone! I taught at Bahrain School for 13 years. I've been teaching in Latin America for 5 years, and I'm hoping to get back into DoDEA this year.
Does anyone have a HS math vacancy at their school for next year?
hahaGenerally the referral email will have the subject areas required for the position listed. Also, if you receive an email from a principal asking you to interview, they would also generally mention the subjects areas they require.
Hi, I noticed that in the job descriptions for support teachers in Germany you could not get hired if you are a German/US dual citizen. I am assuming this is the same for teaching positions? Does anyone know why this is?
hahaThe US has different Status of Forces Agreements with the different nations that host US bases. The SOFA agreement with Germany apparently has something about dual citizenship (I am supposing).
RJYou can get hired, however, if you plan to work in the country in which you are dual citizenship, you will have to renounce your foreign citizenship. I am dual national and work with DoDDS, but not in the country where I am dual citizen. This is not a DODDS rule, it's a Department if Defense rule and applies to all contracting jobs as well.
