Still working at getting into DoDea! I know that the more quals you have, the better! Here's what I have quals in now- 5-12 French, 5-12 English/Language Arts. I'll have a k-12 ESL endorsement after next spring, and a Masters soon to follow.
I'm wondering, would a K-12 Talented and Gifted endorsement be a good addition? How is that staffed at DoDea schools?
Hi, I was going to get an Avid qualification, but when I tried to sign up they said my school had to be in the Avid community already, which my school isn't. Has anyone else had that kind of problem?
Hello! I am new to this chat and recently completed my application. I chose as many job titles as I thought I could, but a few state not qualified, based on credit hours from my transcripts, etc.
I was wondering if it reflects negatively at all on my chances if they see I am not qualified for some things. Is there a way to take those off?
If you have any chance of adding those areas (by adding credits) then you may as well leave them. If not, and it bothers you, then you can always call HR and try and get them taken off.
Hi everyone I hope everyone's Easter was fabulous. I've posted on here before but just curious if anyone has heard if there will be any Media Specialist or 9-12 English openings this year in Europe or Japan. Thanks a lot in advance.
Donna JHiring happens all year. I was hired during the school year and arrived the first of March. The trick is to be ready to go with 2 weeks notice at all times.
hahaCounseling positions are a little tough to come by, mainly because they are generally limited to 1-2 per school.
On the plus side, all of the counselors at the schools I have worked at (and a number of others personally known to me) were hired as counselors from stateside (although a few did come from DoDEA Americas).
Any single parents stationed overseas? I'm looking into admin positions which may require overnight travel. Would it be difficult for me to find overnight care for my daughters, 6 & 8? I'm looking for a position in the Pacific region.
RJAdmins tend to work long hours, and often weekends. The system is turning very paperwork heavy and stressful. As a mom, I would wait until your kiddos were a little older.....
educatormamaThanks for sharing your insight RJ, I will definitely take this into consideration. I've been an admin for about 7 years now, so I'm used to the long hours and paperwork but being overseas alone with the girls without a support system will be undoubtedly more challenging.
Hello all! I was wondering if hiring has started for the 2019-2020 school year. I was wondering if there are any teaching positions open/opening on Quantico base in VA? Is there anyway to know if there any positions, just wondering if I have a chance. Are candidates allowed to contact administrators directly?
Maybe if you make a referral list that tells you they have an opening that matches your qualifications, it may be helpful. It may also be unhelpful if something about your email, supporting materials, etc. turns them off or rubs them the wrong way.
RJI would only contact if you receive a referral, which means that there is a job opening. Otherwise, you are just one of many thousand Emails or phone calls, and they won't remember you. Timing is everything. Done it three times, in three different territories in DoDDS, got the job each time.
HR told me yesterday that all excess teachers have been placed, so that is inspiring- however, if I don't even have a chance with just 7 certs, that would be nice to know. I am dual certified in elementary ed and middle level math, plus gifted and talented at both levels. I have domestic and international experience and I know its a long shot but if its impossible I won't waste my time. Please advise!
MathleteGoogle says upper is 300 level and above, I hope that is true. Also with a middle level math certification, do the 12 hours need to include upper level?? Because I might not even have enough upper courses for my own degree which is very strange.
