witeacherThank you for your insight! I have two Bachelor's degrees (in Spanish Education and German Education) so I took over 30 credit hours of 300 level or higher courses in each language in college.
As best as we can tell, you are rated based on education, years of experience, relevant training, etc. and some type of score is assigned. We never see or generally know what those scores might be, so I have no idea what is a good or bad score (unlike the process for recruiting admin, in which I believe you do see a score based on your application and interview questions).
I suspect that I am up against people w/ MA's or Ed.S who have ...See MoreJust wondering if I have a shot at securing a SPED position with a BA + 75 (I did my undergrad then later entered the teaching program at Cal. State) and CA Certs: Mild/Mod SPED, Adapted PE, PE, Multi-Subj. I also have 10 vet. preference points plus 9 yrs teaching experience.
I suspect that I am up against people w/ MA's or Ed.S who have many more yrs experience, but I applied anyhow.
hahaIt was perfectly clear. Sorry if my response was not clear.
I was trying to say that not having an Ed. S or MA should not put you at a great disadvantage, given your years of experience. The biggest factor will be the certification areas you are considered qualified in for DoDEA.
IcanreadNope... no info on any leaving where I am. Unfortunately, many of those positions are filled internally. If they do hire from the US, it is an automated process so even if there is an empty position, you must be on the automated referral list in order to even be considered for an interview.
KarinI also added a lot of additional taget jobs and locations. I hope it helps. I am waiting for pending jobs in ESE to be verified since I got it added to my Florida teaching certification.
hahaNot off hand. Given the numbers of FLES teachers that needed to be filled it going to be tighter than usual and HS Spanish is generally fairly tight anyway. Do you have any other areas you could possibly be/get qualified in?
For planning/decision making purposes, can anyone share any guidance on plus hours?
I have my master's degree +45 semester hours through a university, however, they are transcripted as non-degree hours. Wondering if those count for +30 on the pay scale?
TeachinThe courses are listed on my transcript like "C&I 930 PRDV:Teach Financial Literacy" and "TE 930 PRDV:Electronic Portfolios/Edu." They are listed as 3 credit hours each, but I received an "S" which I think is like a pass/fail grade? There is a big difference in pay between M and M+30 and that could make a big difference!
As long as they are noted as being graduate and from an accredited university they should be fine. Virtual Field Tripping, Book Review classes, it generally doesn't matter for salary lane purposes.
