Does the SpEd Quals take longer to verify? My pending have changed to qualified for all but SpEd they are still pending? Just curious if this is the norm?
Can anyone just shed some light on what it's like to be ES SpEd teacher? Case load size, is it pull out services, self contained? Anything info would help. Thanks.
Hi I'm new here and am wondering what are the chances of being hired as a k-12 media specialist in DODEA. I have 10 years of experience in Florida, thanks for any input.
Hello all, I just got an email from my VP that Dodea has requested a recommendation letter (reference check). My qualifications are still pending. I guess, I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone and what was the outcome. I'm hoping this is a good sign.
happyteacherawesome, great news indeed! Your position would likely be NTE as said above but a great way to get foot in the door. Many NTE candidates that get let go at the end of the year end up getting hired back at a later date when stafffing changes. Where are you located?
I teach in CA and I legally partook temporarily and am just wondering if I need to flush my system. I would never participate in drug activity while working for DODEA as I know they are strict on that as current employees and it is not something I do often.
I just don't want a mistake to get in the way of this job!
I was left with the...See MoreI spoke to someone in an Admin position much higher up the ladder. They didn't want to discuss the issue directly (they never want to discuss any issue directly) but I was left with the impression that they understand that many teachers have glaucoma, or anxiety issues. And they hire teachers from Colorado all the time.
I was left with the impression that Admin is unwilling to open that door, and they don't want to place too much emphasis on tests whch are not directly related to student learning.
SpEd_EddieDude, smoke as much as you want. Just be low key about it. DoDEA never piss tests, and I personally know of plenty of teachers in Europe that smoke on the reg.
WoodsieHaHa gives good advice. Schools in China and other parts of Asia pay pretty well and allow for good savings and adventures. Personally, I am a Europe girt. I worked in a school in a developing country in Europe and they paid my rent. The cost of living was very low and we had lots of access to travel. We were able to save quite a bit.
But your main goal should simply be to move to a school district which pays more. Based on your numbers, may I sugggest that you seek a move which gives you at least a 25% gross pay raise.
First, identify the states and districts to which you are interested in moving, which will also give you the needed pay raise.
You seem to have figured out that your current district is never going to pay you more. It's March - get busy with your research, and start filing out the applications for employment and all the necessary state teaching cert stuff.
iowatoabroadhopefulCongrats on the interview! I've been interviewed twice, and never heard back negatively or positively. After about two weeks, I kind of assumed. I hope that's not the case for you! Keep us posted!
hahaIt can vary wildly from days to months. In general, two weeks seems fairly typical. You would think that for an opening this year they would be in a hurry to get it filled but you never know. All you can do is try the principal or HR and see if someone will give you an answer. Otherwise, expect the worst and hope for the best.
Does anyone know where I can find the paperwork to start the process of taking dogs over to Japan, as I hear it is a long process and there must be several rabies vaccinations completed etc?
