I am stateside and I have FS, after having had Blue Cross for a few years. Both are very good, but I found when switching to BC (after being advised to do so by colleagues) that FS is cheaper on a monthly basis with lower copay on doctors' visits while coverage, out-of-pocket etc is substantially the same on the rest. Thank you RJ. I believe my application is active as I get the referral list notifications. I've been places on several different referral list, I just haven't been contacted for an interview.

There is currently no entry into the transfer program for DoDEA Americas teachers. So basically you are looking at getting referrals/interviews through EAS just like an external candidate. There are sometimes openings that get advertised via internal emails and you could apply for those obviously if they say DoDEA Americas employees are eligible. ....See More

The sad reality is that 1. Interviews have already been requested and you weren't one of the lucky picks 2. The job was claimed (displaced employee, principal pick although not legal) before the referral list and HR is just going through the motions.

Hi lady. Yes my salary was prorated and I was also a transfer from another fed gov agency on 26 pay periods. When I came on board, I was changed to 22 pay periods and did not receive pay over the summer. I was able to request 26 pay periods again in May, so at the beginning of this school year, I was back on 26. That was a huge shocker!

Hi haha. Thanks for the precisions: they are really useful. It's not about using the max for the sake of using it, but rather to be able to gauge at current exchange rates, what amount is available against local rental prices, especially for a house.

No problem. I really have not heard of a location with DoDEA where the LQA would not allow you a nice to very nice living situation. In Germany we had a 3 bedroom multi level house with stand up attic and 3 room basement, good size yard, enclosed garage (and a beautiful view) for under 1000 euros. Generally, yes. If you are under someone else's orders who is getting COLA/Post Allowance then they would generally take you off of theirs and you would apply as a single for your own PO (for civilians, I can't speak for if the spouse is military).

Sure, it's possible. I know of a few parents who send (or have sent) their children to local public schools for one reason or another. Paying for an int'l school would not seem to make much sense but it has been done before.
