Similarly with dental insurance...See MoreThere is no BEST health insurance. The actual location is the most important consideration when you choose an insurance provider. The FS is great in some locations and less so in others.
And some locations have incredibly wonderful local options, which are rarely considered, and others have nothing.
Since I was told "automated", I thought the referral would come quickly to tell me that I had been flagged as qualified for certain position(s) and put on the list for those. It is also quite possible that I completely misunderstood what I was told: jeez, that would be the first time... :)
I'm currently a DoDea teacher, first full year. I'm interested in going overseas, I mainly took my job as a foot in the door. Is there an internal process for doing so? Are there any routes to getting a position overseas that I may not know of? Will I have to stay in my current position for a specific amount of time?
kiki08Thank you RJ. I believe my application is active as I get the referral list notifications. I've been places on several different referral list, I just haven't been contacted for an interview.
I just got an email about being placed on a referral list for Lakenheath. Can anybody tell me what it's like living in Lakenheath. And that's iF I get called for an interview. It seems late to be interviewing, but I suppose it's like any other school, positions open.
RJThe sad reality is that 1. Interviews have already been requested and you weren't one of the lucky picks 2. The job was claimed (displaced employee, principal pick although not legal) before the referral list and HR is just going through the motions.
Hi everyone! I was hired on with DoDEA in Japan in Nov. 2017. My orders are through 8/31/19. Am I eligible for RAT this summer or next? I am expecting to be renewed.
Worldwide EducatorHi lady. Yes my salary was prorated and I was also a transfer from another fed gov agency on 26 pay periods. When I came on board, I was changed to 22 pay periods and did not receive pay over the summer. I was able to request 26 pay periods again in May, so at the beginning of this school year, I was back on 26. That was a huge shocker!
tony75Hi haha. Thanks for the precisions: they are really useful. It's not about using the max for the sake of using it, but rather to be able to gauge at current exchange rates, what amount is available against local rental prices, especially for a house.
hahaGenerally, yes. If you are under someone else's orders who is getting COLA/Post Allowance then they would generally take you off of theirs and you would apply as a single for your own PO (for civilians, I can't speak for if the spouse is military).
I start working in DDESS a year ago. I have a travel agreement and receive today a request for interview for DoDEA. Can I move having a travel agreeement of two years? Any experience on this?
Hello :) I'm wondering if your children are required to attend the DODEA schools, or if you can enroll them in a local public or private school overseas? The appeal of that would depend largely on where you're hired, but I'm curious if it's allowed?
hahaSure, it's possible. I know of a few parents who send (or have sent) their children to local public schools for one reason or another. Paying for an int'l school would not seem to make much sense but it has been done before.
Some locations may not allow public school due to SOFA status and/or may change their policies over time.
And some locations have incredibly wonderful local options, which are rarely considered, and others have nothing.
