Keep calling hotels! I didn't have a hotel until a week or so before we arrived. The base hotels in Oki can put you on a wait list (we were on the wait list for the Courtney Lodge). Thankfully there are always cancellations. Also, did you find the facebook page - DoDDS teachers living the Okinawa dream?

You will travel to the Republic of Korea with your tourist passport and use your official passport to travel from there to Japan. Eugenia can have your passports expedited if she agrees there is reason for her to do this by hand. She may not agree.

A whole calendar month.. patients is key.
I am already in the system. Worked stateside this last month. So those new to the whole process... it's possible. Time and patients is key!

Because you are not being considered for this school-year, your application is not being addressed. When/if they need a person with your qualifications and cannot find them in the pool of current applicants, they may look at yours. Otherwise, yours will be addressed after the peak of the hiring season for 2018-2019 is over.

As haha stated earlier, getting certified in another state (find one that would be quick and easy) can be a good back-up especially if you need that certificate to reduce the number of hours required to help you with your DoDEA certificate.

Where do you get the phone number to call HR? The only one phone numbers I have seen are overseas phone numbers and when I dial them, it doesn't work.

Jenny, if you go to the contact page of the EAS, you can find the HR number there. I am pretty sure it is a number in Virginia.

There was a person hired last year on the board that wasn't able to leave. Her custody paperwork I think was really restrictive. She needed to go to court and get relocation approved. With that in mind I filed relocation paperwork at my courthouse which we both approved and started the process just in case. My court date was this week but I didn't ...See More

As far as I recall and have read about the most recent process. Once you have your orders then it's arrange your pack out and confirm travel arrangements.

@slpgeek, what type of clinical experience are they counting for you, and towards what DODEA position?

@wa_counselor it's for slp in the schools. All my clinical/hospital experience has been with kids so it is pretty much doing the same job, but just in a different location. Again, I haven't seen a final offer so I don't know for sure if they will count it all. They did have me send verification if employment forms to all of my previous employers.
