Suzla@Leo, thank you so much for getting back to me!!!! I'll look into that. Did you call DODEA to get help in figuring out which course to take? If you did, is there someone you suggest I reach out to for more information about additional courses?
LeoSuzla, you're most welcome. I believe I found that class because of this chatboard myself! Since it was just the one class, and since others had success submitting it before me, I did not talk to DoDEA prior to taking it.
Some locations, like Germany, apparently have something called member of household where they could be with you and can get base access without being on your orders. Japan requires they be on your orders. It's possible but there are hoops to jump through and nothing is guaranteed.
Ok. I just got an email saying my account is unlocked. What does this mean? Also, has anyone ever requested copies of their references that were turned in?
Just MeI've always been able to log into my account. I didn't know it was locked or anything was wrong with it. I'm wondering if they emailed the wrong person.
So, my current employer doesn't want me to go anywhere. They refused to give a reference when called and are not wanting to fill out my Form 5013. As far as I know, this is illegal to do for a state or federal position. Any recommendations on what I should do.
I've had my same cell phone number for close to 20 years, and am wondering what those of you already overseas have done with your US cell phones. Did you cancel your service completely, or is there a way to suspend service so that you can use it when you go back to visit in the US?
HelpOthersWe didn't transfer our numbers until after we were here, because we continued to use our US cell phones at first when we were here, mostly with wifi - messenger, etc.
WA_CounselorI currently have T-Mobile and an iPhone 6S Plus. I had read somewhere that we can't use Magic Jack in S. Korea. @Mary, did you transfer your number to Magic Jack just to have a place to keep it?
1. He filled out equip and sent it back on 7/5 but we still have not heard anything about fingerprints. They are supposed to be in within 10 days, but we can't find any instructions/forms so we can get this taken care of. Our hr rep also happens to be on vacation all week, and the equip didn't come from an identifiable security rep. Any suggestions?
2. How do we get permission to join the Dodd Facebook page? I tried to join a few days ago, but so far no response.
3. Any idea how the cost of HHG is computed? We are trying to decide what to bring, but with it being taxed at 22% it would be helpful to know if there is a flat fee for x amt of lbs, then a per lb addition, or how it is determined. Suggrstions on what to bring and what to leave?
4. We sent in birth certificates for maroon passports today. Should I order another copy of birth cert.s to get blue passports for everyone, or is it easy to order blue passports from Japan once we get our docs returned? Do we need to send birth certificates in for anything else? I feel nervous now that I don't have official copies anymore.
5. Is RAT at Iwakuni every year or every two years? I have heard both and can't find it online anywhere.
Thank you in advance for your help! I'm sure we will have many more questions as our journey progresses!
somedayIt is important to have extra copies. What I did was once I had my sponsor I had her set up my box/address on base and ordered my renewal travel passports to that address. They should be waiting for me when I arrive. One reason I did that was because the house was for sale and I didn't have an interim address.
Does anyone have an online university they suggest for taking additional coursework? One that if accepted by DODEA. I have a master's in Special Ed and would like to know where I can get more classes to fulfill DODEA's requirements. I'm specifically looking for assessor, emotionally impaired, ESL. Thank you!
I don't think you will get blacklisted for asking a lot of questions. I know (personally and from here) many people who have been hired and very few of them are the shy types when it comes to asking questions and looking after their own interests.
My...See MoreHi everyone! Well, the past 24 hours have been a little surprising, to say the last! My timeline is like this:
June 20: Placed on referral list.
July 5 12:30pm: Email requesting interview
July 5 2:30pm: Interview took place
July 6 9:02am: Tenative Job Offer
July 6 9:13am: EAS account inactive
My head is reeling! I know teachers report July 30, and school starts August 3 there. Could I actually get through this process in time to make it there for those dates? I do not have to sell a house, etc, just trying to brace myself for massive, major, FAST change! Thoughts?
July 9 - 2:30 Tentative offer and relevant paperwork signed and emailed to HQ July 9 - 2:41, 3:04 and 3:06: Email began pouring in, concerning background checks, eQUIP instructions, and my eQUIP registration.
Today is my birthday, so I'm taking a few hours to celebrate with my family, then will tackle figuring all of this out!
I applied for the 19/20 school year. My qualifications are still pending. My department chair messaged me today and asked if I was leaving because she received a reference request from DoDEA. Is this normal?
LolaTeachWhen you apply on EAS, the system automatically generates reference requests when you enter supervisor or reference contact information. If you were to delay entering contact information, that person would not receive a request until you did.
I can't speak from experience about AP training or course offerings but AP Calculus BC and AB are both listed in the EAS in the Additional Training Experience section. I would ask HR about the AP training requirements. They usually answer (eventually).
