It's taken me 8 years to get my first interview. I just received a tentative offer for a science position at Fort Knox H.S. I understand the difference between tentative offer and official offers. Positive Vibes @Hope, the same happened to me. I got 3 or 4 from jobs I never interviewed for. It made me sad at first because I was wondering - well was it my resume or what? But hopefully something soon (I'm trying as a local hire overseas...)

I went from pending to qualified in all of my selections except compensatory reading and gifted. My 8 million math classes came in handy bc I qualified for the compensatory math and all gen ed pre-k - 6. I didn't get gifted either, but I expected that. I'm excited! mariab 3 1/2 weeks. I'm guessing it's probably not going to happen this year for gen ed elementary though. I put my app in for 19/20 so do they even look at them for this year?

haha Great! SPED would probably be the most marketable with DoDEA, but unless you are planning on actually teaching in the field, it might not be as helpful as you would hope (but then again, principals are hard to predict).

MS Science would be a close second (maybe first in some people's mind) and would fit in much better with existing experie...See More

College Options for Dependents

Has anyone in the Japan area had experience with dependents going to college. Wondering what my kids' options would be. Sending them stateside would not be ideal.

haha Most seem to go back to the states or take online classes. There are generally some face to face classes offered through Education Centers on base but options are fairly limited. There are some English options available in country but don't know the details.

haha I would agree. Winters can be cold but not much snow in the Tokyo area (maybe one big downfall that closes school since they are not big on removal) and then a few flurries here and there. Yokosuka runs maybe a bit warmer being slightly south and on the water.

joseybear Today I emailed the security person and my HR rep to check on the status and my e-fingerprints. I then got an email. In addition to the electronic prints, I now need hard copy prints. Would have been helpful to know last Friday when I did the others. So I'll be doing that in the AM.

Seems like weekly updates or checking in is helpful.
