You may also find more information about COLA, something like it goes up a certain percentage of the allotted amount for every additional two dependents, or something like that. It generally covers most of your grocery bill, like $600/month if you average it out for the entire 12 months even though the pay is only for the 21 pay periods (you can save the summer percentage and not spend it so it is available in the summer when you need it).
Your LQA amount will still be provided during the summer, but you may want to set aside a certain percentage of each paycheck into a Summer account. I know my bank makes it easy to open additional accounts. I have one I call LQA and if I were not paid in the summer, I would create one called Summer. Just move the money where you want it and use it the way the way you intended.
Good luck. I think you will be just fine. Hopefully your husband will find work soon, but if not, you will have enough to support your family. Any work he does will provide you money for trips and other stuff.
IdaAlso, if you haven't already, make sure your new principal knows he is a teacher and what his certification areas should be. The principal might know of openings around the complex he would be qualified for.
Leo@Mary, thank you! I will check with our current insurance company. @Joseybear, yes I have been in contact with HR regularly. See CM's post below -Limbo. At least I'm not the only one.
June 22: notice that a background investigation was requested
June 25: e-mail on how to initiate the E-QIP/ completed it the same day
June 27: I got a message saying my application was incomplete unless they receive fingerprints. I went back and forth with HR/Security and finally received directions for electronic prints on June 29th. I still have not received any hard copy information about fingerprints even though the directions are "in the mail." I recommend getting the codes and pursuing electronic print submission if at all possible.
June 29th: Sent prints electronically in the morning, called PSIP in the afternoon to confirm receipt and they told me to call back Monday because it can take 24hours to receive them electronically.
July 2: Confirmed they received my prints and my application was in the queue for review.
July 4: I got this message: "The Personnel Security Investigation Center of Excellence (PSI-CoE) received all required documentation to process your background investigation request. Your background investigation request was submitted to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). At this time, no further action is required."
I HOPE this means my firm offer is just around the corner. I would feel so much better knowing that I can be with my students on the first day of school. I am getting excited and am so ready to jump into this new adventure.
joseybearSounds like one step closer. I'm hoping I hear back soon. I submitted my eQip June 27. Fingerprints sent electronically by Ft. Campbell security guy on June 29.
This was good I had done so, because I did not have orders. I was moving to another stateside location. If you are going overseas, you will have orders. It is possible that with orders, they will release you, but they also may not.
Sometimes, if you can find new renters to rent immediately, they only require you to pay the months that are not covered.
Honestly, $2,000 is not bad for 6 months remaining on your lease unless you pay less than $300 per month in rent. Try showing orders, and try helping them get new renters, but otherwise, you are stuck with your fee. Hopefully it will be worth it in the end.
What happens if you have already agreed to a tentative contract...and then another school asks to interview you? Do you have to tell them you are off the market, or is it fair to take the interview, since the tentative offer states not to make financial decisions until an official offer is made.....???
