I've completed the application and elected to have my references complete forms electronically. They've not yet gotten anything. Can anyone tell me about how long after the submission of the application these emails go out to references?
somedayIt should be immediately. The emails looked like spam to several of my references. Have them search their inbox for EAS and if it was sent they will likely find it I actually had to search one of my references boxes for them. It was there but they swore they never got it.
Also, I'm in the process of selling my house (divorce) and sending my son to college, so now would be the opportune time to move! I feel a little in limbo. When I sign a lease, I will need to ensure there's a clause for relocating with a job...just in case! When would I be able to consider it "too late" for the 18-19 school year hiring? Any thoughts on that?
HelpOthersI mean do not list your work and home phone number because inevitably, they will call the location where you are not... Then, they may not leave a message, or by the time you respond, it may be too late.
I'm SPED Teacher with a strong (strong is probably an understatement) desire to work overseas.
This is my first year applying and given the fact that it's almost June and I haven't been contacted, I'm assuming I won't be working with DODDS this year.....BUUUUUT I'm not giving up hope! I'm staying positive though. Maybe next year will work out.
My question is.... How long did everyone on here wait from the time they submitted an application to the day an offer was made? 2 years? 3 years?
For someone moving out of state, are vehicle registrations/driver's licenses handled the same as they are for military members? Do I need to transfer my vehicle registration and driver's license to my new state?
Some...See MoreThe rules for military members under orders are not the same as for civilians.
When civilians take up residence in a new state, then they normally have to transfer their registration and driver's license. The laws are different in each state. Read the gov website of the state to which you intend to move for more information.
Some civilians try to use various schemes to avoid changing their residency. Some of these schemes are legal but many of these schemes will not pass the scrutiny of tax autitors from your new state.
HelpOthersWhen you receive a job offer stateside, you do not get orders. You are civilian, move yourself there and pay for your own housing in your new location. You do need to register your car and obtain a drivers license in your new state.
For those wondering about notification timelines, I just got notification that I was NOT selected for a position I interviewed for in SEPTEMBER OF 2017!!. LOL. Just FYI.
SpedTeacher74Yes...LOL. I didn't mean to say "referred" in the subject line either, I meant to say selected, but apparently you can't edit posts on this site.
HelpOthersI think they send those out after the person elected is in place. Hope this does not mean it took this long to get that person through the background check, etc.
So I received an email today regarding an interview for a social studies/science position in Ft Knox, which is not ideal for the long term goals for my husband and I (we are wanting overseas). I had not realized that I had the stateside locations checked off on.
A couple of questions:
1. If I decline an interview, does that not look good for me in the future or would other schools even know?
2. Although not ideal, if it helped me transition into an overseas position, I would be more excited to interview. Is it going to be beneficial or conversely more negative if I were to interview (and potentially take the job)?
I just accepted position in Colorado, which we are very excited about, but am willing to make the change if it will help me out in the long run. Thanks in advance for the help!
HelpOthersIf you are being hired from within DoDEA, Vet preference no longer helps you, so if you do have vet preference, save it for the job you do want.
If there is any downsizing stateside, DoDEA will try to keep you and may offer you a position in another location (stateside first if available, then overseas if available).
I put in for several jobs on usajobs. One of them shows that my resume is processing and not submitted; however, when you go to print the application or look at it...it is there. Does that mean they are looking at it? It has been that way for a few days now.
HelpOthersMake sure to read the instructions for how to apply. Teaching positions are done through EAS. However, a few positions are being recruited through USA Jobs. Likely the one you applied to is not which is why the resume has not be reviewed and officially submitted. If Processing, it shows you entered it, but no one has accepted it.
Anyone heard of any preschool/LIMM jobs being open this year? I know everyone has seen me commenting on here about qualifications. Since I know have preschool added on I am just curious. I am hoping for some referrals. I now have 8 certifications so I am hoping something turns up.
