hahaIt seems to vary by base. When in doubt. call your nearest base and find out what they require (and if that doesn't seem feasible call other bases near you and see if they are easier to gain access to).
You generally cannot get your ID card (CAC) until you officially report to your new location.
I have a question for any who'd like to offer what they know or think. Is a references check after an interview generally a precursor to a tentative offer (assuming the references are good ones), or is it standard procedure/tradition to check all interviewed candidates references? Thanks ahead for any advice you all care to share!
I have heard of references being checked before the interview and references being checked after the interview and the person not getting the job (despite presumably good references) and people who were interviewed but their references were never checked.
It seems that in many cases (but obviously not every or even most) it may have come down to two or three candidates and references were checked as a way of trying to decide between several strong candidates.
world2goThanks Haha! That's what I figured. I asked with the slightest of hopes that the DoD did it differently (like so many other procedures) and this would be a slam dunk of sorts and make the waiting easier. Thanks again for your response. I'll just keep my fingers crossed!
For those of you who have shipped bikes overseas, did you just leave the bike assembled and let the movers take care of it? Or did you break it down and put in a bike box?
HelpOthersOur Unaccompanied baggage arrived after our household goods. Another option is to put it in the bag and take it with you on the plane or mail it ahead.
I think the main variable would be due to the schedule. Many schools are using block schedules now with A/B days of 90 minute periods so you would generally teach 3 periods with one planning period on each day.
The other variable would be what/how many different subjects you are teaching which impacts how many preps you have. Within one school I have seen a teacher teach 6 classes of the same subject and another teacher teach 5 different subjects. I have also seen math teachers who teach a few classes of science and vice versa.
Maybe someone else can add more or maybe you have more specific questions.
hahaYou do not receive a referral list but you may be notified by email that your name has appeared on a referral list (which happens when a principal has an opening and requests a list of candidates from HR/the EAS system with matching qualifications).
My name is Danielle Smith, and I am a student in the Community Health Department at the State University of New York at Potsdam. I am working on an Honors Program research project with Dr. Brent Crow (PhD, CHES), also of the Community Health Department. The purpose of this project is to investigate assess school-wide access, attitudes, quality of services, and staff coordination regarding mental health in high schools in the United States.
If you are a principal or administrator, guidance counselor, mental health worker, student health services worker, teacher, or special education professional at a public high school in the United States, we could use your help in this project. Please note that your involvement is completely voluntary. Should you choose to participate, we would kindly ask that you complete the survey by clicking here if you have not already done so: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FKYX8N3. It should take no more than fifteen minutes, and your responses will be kept anonymous.
Any questions may be directed to myself by sending an email to smithd198@potsdam.edu. Dr. Crow can also be reached for correspondence via email to crowbm@potsdam.edu or by phone at (315) 267-2124. Thank you very much for your time and your consideration.
How do cell phones work in Italy and Europe? I understand there are phones to rent and some people just use international roaming, but that has always been for tourists traveling. Living there, what works and what doesn't? Do I have to buy a new phone, I have an iPhone X can I use it in Europe and Italy?
Maybe someone can chime ...See MoreIt should (if it's unlocked). When we were in Germany we were able take our unlocked iPhones (purchased in China) to the company on base and get German sim cards, telephone numbers, etc. They worked everywhere in Europe and when we went back to the states for summer we switched out for US sim cards with no problem.
Maybe someone can chime in specifically about your new location.
LolaTeachWhile I lived in Europe, I purchased two refurbished iPhones from the US. As long as they are unlocked, they work fine. I even bought a Motorola for my daughter and it worked perfectly.
livehappySo the air quality is really not that bad. We do have some days that are bad and you can fell dirt kinda like in your mouth and eyes but nothing crazy. Our allergies have actually been better since being here.
