So that makes sense as far as it being an upper level. I did provide all the specifics on the course I was considering and it is a graduate level but am not 100% it would be considered chemistry, even tho chemistry is the subject. The class in question is "Chemistry in the making: Fostering inquiry with science notebooks" So not sure if it woudl be considered chemistry or sci ed.
On the other hand. I've started the process with WGU, I think in the long run that would be my best bet. For the price of the one class, I could have an equivalent number of credits well into a Master's...
somedayI think you are making a good choice. The chemistry notebook class just doesn't seem like chemistry so i would be worried they may not count it and you would be wasting your time with it.
The more certs you have the more useful you are to a principal, or prinicpals, if they decide to split you between two schools (rare). Many schools are combined; K-8, or 6-12, or K-12. Even a stand alone MS or HS may be quite small and teachers may have 4, 5 or 6 preps (different courses to teach). If you want to maximize the chances of getting hired then having both MS and HS certs is valuable.
Every time I think I have a handle on the bizarre cert combinations that Dodea principals put together, then they manage to reach deeper and surprise me anew.
Hey all! I hope you might be able to calm some of my nerves. I applied in January, and have had a "Re-evaluating" qualification on my application since February. Haven't heard anything since and my status hasn't changed, is this normal? Does a "Re-evaluating" hurt my chances to be consider? Thanks so much!
southernteachKbaker-Do you know who R.S. is? They recently looked at mine as well and I would like to email them. I asked questions to all of those emails you listed above and no response although I had gotten responses before when I bugged and bugged and bugged. Did you call or persistently email?
At least a week has passed since I got emails notifying me that I am on 2 referral lists. I thought I would have heard from at least one of them by now. I would love to hear other people's experience concerning the wait time between referral notice and interview--just so I can get a sense of what is typical.
I need to Second Language Acquisition 3credits so I apply to Achieving Success for English Language Learners EDUC713 3credits La Verne University is it right course?
My interest is specifically Italy or UK, which I know are some of most desired locations. It's technically possible, but has anyone new to this actually gotten their first offer for Europe or seen others start off in Europe? I'm prepared to wait years if necessary, and add as many certs as I can along the way.
I see so many on this board going for the pacific, and having specialized certs like SPED, with masters degrees.. and even then waiting years for a position. I'll begin trying for 2019/20 school year with a bachelors degree in Heath and PE, middle school Math and Science certs, with 9 years teaching experience. Should I get my masters, rather than add certified areas? Are Italy or the UK just too much of a long shot to hope for?
smTEACH23My advice is to not give up hope! I agree with Mary above...but also make sure your application is complete. I contacted HR multiple times and I had 'minor' things that made my application incomplete. I wouldn't of known this without contacting them...and it also makes them actually look at their application! Good Luck!!
