Someday, did you submit your class and find out for sure if half the upper level courses are required? I'm hoping that the case as well!

No I am not sure. I Don't have math certification i am juat short on the 30 so I was just going with the information that had been shared by Bubblehead in the past. I have enough credits for my other areas.

It may be too late, but completing a DoDEA internship can help. Adding the coursework to be special education preschool qualified may also help. Honestly, just experience will help and getting great references.

Honestly, there are generally a lot of candidates for elementary, early childhood etc. so you would be at a disadvantage to be hired with no experience (not impossible, but longer odds than usual, which are still pretty long for everyone).

The hiring freeze articles linked above are from a year ago- March 2017. There hasn't been a hiring freeze announced this Spring.

They may be waiting to readjust all the people already working in the district who have chosen to have a different position next year first then. I don't know why else they would say there is a hiring freeze.

From DODEA website: A major in English or a minimum of 30 SH in English. A maximum of 5 SH in speech and/or journalism may be counted toward meeting this requirement. Course work must include English literature, American literature, the teaching of composition (writing process), and a minimum of 12 SH in upper level English courses.

T. Rob, it is my understanding that it is difficult to get a job in the U.K. because there are fewer schools and not many transfer out of the U.K. once they secure a job there. I don't think it is more difficult for any other reason than those.

I figure its extra tough just for the language as it would be easier to move there for language purposes. That is not my reason but could see that is the case. But, they still will need teachers so keeping my fingers crossed!

No problem. It varies with MS generally needing 24 and Secondary needing 30 hours. Yes, the state cert generally means that you would need half of that for DoDEA.

Thank you again! Without having my transcript in hand I know I'll be qualified for PE, Health, ESOL, then possibly Math and science.. or very close, so some classes may be in my near future. Very excited to begin this process, so thankful for all the great info tonight!
