That brings up a whole new question--What about University of Maryland and other universities that are often found at the Education Centers on base?? How do they hire professors?
HelpOthersYes, haha is correct. The student must seek approval first, so it is not a guarantee, but the student can take classes for dual credit if approved.
Hi does years of experience determine how I am picked for an interview. I only have three year experience and wonder if I should even get my hopes up for this year?
HelpOthersThe interviewers will look at the applications and choose 3-5 to interview. Therefore, you being chosen will depend on how you compare to the other individuals.
I tell myself that all these years I have spent as a para haven't been a total waste, having taken college coursework in sped all along, a course per semester, as finances permit (and they really never have). I knew from day one that I would get into the DoD schools someday. It's really all I ever wanted. Heard heartening advice about sped being a shortage area in DoD schools as it is in public schools stateside. Never really wanted anything other than DoDEA.
Then learned master's degrees holders (in SPED) are applying and not getting in. That was today. I presume you and Leo are veteran DoD school teachers.
hahaGenerally, no, only full time teaching experience in a K-12 setting counts as teaching experience for DoDEA. You would really need to meet the requirements set out on the DoDEA teaching requirements page to be considered for a teaching position. As Leo posted, take a look and see what you can work towards checking off.
Haha or scholar, do the students take mid term exams? I know that sounds like a weird question but my district did away with them several years ago. I am trying to create a calendar and determine how much time I have for each standard. Thanks! +
HelpOthersWe were notified that there would be maintenance this weekend with all DoDEA sites, so it makes sense that EAS would be impacted. If I were you, I would use the time to review the information in USA Job and apply there too.
HelpOthersYou update your current application each year, so all the places that indicate the school-year for which you are applying reflect the new school-year. This requires you to upload your transcript and your education/teaching certificate/license. USA Jobs has again posted an announcement for teachers. I suggest you also apply through USA Jobs.
Culinary is kind of a catch-22. When there are openings (like there have been the last few years) then it is a high needs position with limited candidates in the system. When you look at the total number of positions and the likely number on openings every year after these are filled, it will likely be a relatively niche certification.
