Currently I live in the EU for work but am moving back in a few months to my permanent address in the US.
In the application, if I list my Europe address as my "current address" and my US address as my "permanent address", will I be denied LQA if I get a DODEA job in the EU?
I'm not sure if they care about both or just the permanent address.
fmp3OK thanks. Just one more question if you have a moment... Our biggest concern is in the LQA Questionaire where it says: did you apply/receive/accept this position while physically residing in the US... what would you do there?
If you put yes, then you are technically lying on your application which could end up disqualifying your application when someone figures out that you could not be physically residing in the US if you were working for an int'l school overseas.
I would probably put no and be ready with my explanation/rationale and hope that it is sufficient. Then, if I had no interviews/offers by the time I was back in the US, I would change my answer (or delete my application and start over if necessary).
Any great German/English teachers available now and already listed in EAS? Vilseck HS in has been looking for someone to teach 4 sections of German 1-2 and 1 section of ELA since Oct or Nov...
If hired, you could have DoDEA ship everything from your int'l location but then technically that would be your Home of Record which you probably would not want. We were hired while teaching with an int'l school and had around 2 CM of belongings shipped directly to our new location. In our case our school covered that since we were at the end of a contract period.
We then had DoDEA ship some belongings and pay for travel for us from the location in the US where are permanent address was located (family still in the area). So, we get travel back to that location every two years and when we separate from DoDEA they will send us (and our belongings back there).
I applied for world wide placement. Are there any Seniors (63) hired recently. I am still young and love the profession . I recently complete 6 years in the UAE.
hahaIn general, DoDEA hires many late career or even retired teachers. Many principals seem to appreciate a mix of ages/experience levels on their staff (even though they are not really supposed to consider age as a factor when hiring).
My name is Rick St. Louis and I have started my application process with the DoDEA and I have a question about Target Jobs and how I should proceed. I am Washington State endorsed in ELA (5-12), Social Studies (5-12), and Sped (K-12). When applying for target jobs, can I only apply for jobs I am endorsed in or can I apply for Jobs that I have enough college credits to qualify? I am confused on this point. It seems that if I have say 30 quarter credits in art, I can apply for an art position. Am I reading this wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
DoDEA only counts college credits in the specific classes/areas that they l...See MoreYou can apply for any job that you feel like applying for. DoDEA will then evaluate your transcripts and state certifications and tell you which areas THEY consider you qualified for with them. Those will be the only areas/jobs they will generally consider you for.
DoDEA only counts college credits in the specific classes/areas that they list on the teaching category requirements. If you have the same specific state certification that DoDEA offers, however, you generally only need half of the usually required credits.
When in doubt, select any Target Jobs you feel you might be close to being qualified in and let DoDEA tell you yes or no and what additional classes you might need.
You might want to ask someone ...See MoreYou should be fine. We were in Bavaria which is relatively rural and bought an older BMW X-5 which we drove for 3 years there. We never felt like it was too big (except for parking in some of the little German villages). There were also quite a few people who drive bigger American trucks and they seemed fine.
You might want to ask someone at the school what they think to be sure.
But, you never know. Keep your application active, renew it every year and as you log some experience you might get that call or email out of the blue.
You probably are ready to take a break from being a student but if you get motivated to go back to school part-time, adding some additional certifications would make your application more appealing to prospective principals. For example, I know of a school in Japan that was recently looking for someone certified in Math and Science and apparently there was no one in the system when they pulled the list the first time (or at least no one ready to come to Japan at that moment).
SpedTeacher74Yes. I submitted a course description BEFORE I enrolled for the course and HQ told me it would certify me in six additional areas (all SPED). That way I didn't waste my money if it didn't qualify me. I just submitted for re-evaluation a few days ago.
HSpedTeacher74, Thank you! How did you "submit a course description"? Is there an email you sent it too? I looked on my Quals page and there were no initials or other contact information listed. Thanks!
Donna Jhaha, I knew a background check would still have to be completed but was hoping that having one just completed might move this one along. We are always looking for an angle, aren't we? lol
