For the two DDESS jobs, HR called to ask if I was interested before she sent the paperwork. I said yes, and the official offer was e-mailed to me. With DoDDS, the offer was sent by e-mail without a phone call.

Chrissy - He is a school counselor, and I am going to teach Social Studies at SAHS.
We have been applying for the last 4 years. He had one interview in 2014. In the time since we started applying, we both have completed a second Master's Degree.

Standard to Iwahuni Math..Did you apply with USAJOBS? I currently work for another government agency and was hired through USAJOBS. The hiring process was totally different. My references were never contacted. My references were contacted after my 2nd interview, but still waiting. The position is in Japan. Classroom teacher.

My interview was with the virtual high school. I am hoping to get it, but I'm worried about accepting another job this late in the summer when school is about to start and I might not get out of my contract. Since most schools start up in about a week or two.

Ah, good point. Thanks for posting that. I do recall getting that but since it's a lump sum that does not require receipts or proof of how you used it (or at least didn't 5 years ago) I wasn't thinking of it as a reimbursement for breaking lease etc.

You would have your choice of a few different plans/companies (FEHB, Aetna, etc). Premiums vary based on plan, family size etc. We pay around $160 per paycheck for 3 people.
The vast majority of meds will be available at the on base pharmacy and/or on the economy (depending on the location), including the types you asked about.

I just received a couple of emails on Monday that I have been placed on two referral lists for positions at Ft Campbell. How long after that email until interviews start? Would I have already heard back if I was getting an interview?

Just because you're on a referral list does not mean you will get an interview. I was placed on several before I got my first interview. Luckily, I got the job from the first interview, so be prepared. Boot everyone out of the house so you can have a quiet space to relax.

It doesn't hurt to email the principal either. I was referred to many schools. I emailed 2 of the principals and received interviews on both. I didn't get the first one. Congrats! From my experience it is smooth sailing after orders. I fly to Japan August 6th, so I hope that's smooth too. Could have flown sooner, but I wanted one more weekend with my husband.

They are always looking for special education teachers. They do not announce educator positions unless they are unable to fill them through the applicant pool in their Electronic Application Sytem. Agree that DoDDS does not normally post ads for current open positions. Judging from past transfer rounds (where internal positions are posted and current DoDDS educators can apply) and posts on this and other boards, SPED certified candidates do make up a significant percentage of teachers hired in the last 5 years, so yes SPED is a good area to h...See More

This is the answer someone gave on the DoDDS Teacher Facebook Page. I used this advice when completing my HHG and UB paperwork, "Steps 1 - 10 are GS 12/O-3 equivalent; Steps 11 - 18 are GS 13/O-4 equivalent. This is from the negotiated agreement Article 38 Section 1."
