For those of you who have already received an offer for this school year or for past, how did you receive it? Through email or a phone call or some other way?
HelpOthersFor the two DDESS jobs, HR called to ask if I was interested before she sent the paperwork. I said yes, and the official offer was e-mailed to me. With DoDDS, the offer was sent by e-mail without a phone call.
HopefulTwoteachers... Did you and your husband both get jobs? If so, where and what were you each hired for? Hubs and I have both applied, and I would love to hear your story!
IdaChrissy - He is a school counselor, and I am going to teach Social Studies at SAHS.
We have been applying for the last 4 years. He had one interview in 2014. In the time since we started applying, we both have completed a second Master's Degree.
So I had an interview over three weeks ago and I still haven't heard back one way or another. From what I've been reading, that's not too odd however with the school year fast approaching I'm wondering if I should call the principal. I've spoken with HR and they told me I'd heard from them if I got the job or not. Does anyone have any advice?
Worldwide EducatorStandard to Iwahuni Math..Did you apply with USAJOBS? I currently work for another government agency and was hired through USAJOBS. The hiring process was totally different. My references were never contacted. My references were contacted after my 2nd interview, but still waiting. The position is in Japan. Classroom teacher.
silverwolfMy interview was with the virtual high school. I am hoping to get it, but I'm worried about accepting another job this late in the summer when school is about to start and I might not get out of my contract. Since most schools start up in about a week or two.
How did you all that are renters handle your notice to vacate. I have to give a 30'day notice, but I have not received my firm offer yet. Are there any reimbursements when you have to break your lease?
hahaAh, good point. Thanks for posting that. I do recall getting that but since it's a lump sum that does not require receipts or proof of how you used it (or at least didn't 5 years ago) I wasn't thinking of it as a reimbursement for breaking lease etc.
Also, how are prescription drugs handled? I know there are different classifications for drugs overseas and I was wondering would drugs like anti-depressants (Sertraline, Escitalopram), sleep medications (Trazodone, Ambien), or ADHD medications (Adderral, Ritalin, Concerta) be available for refill at overseas posts?
Also, is vision care and dental care available on base or is that generally handled off base?
Se...See MoreYou would have your choice of a few different plans/companies (FEHB, Aetna, etc). Premiums vary based on plan, family size etc. We pay around $160 per paycheck for 3 people.
The vast majority of meds will be available at the on base pharmacy and/or on the economy (depending on the location), including the types you asked about.
Services/facilities on base will vary from location to location. Many/most will have a clinic on base for routine problems/treatment and outsource for more involved issues. Many/most will have some vision/dental services available. Access for civilians varies by location but most have services available for us an a Space A basis (availble).
I just received a couple of emails on Monday that I have been placed on two referral lists for positions at Ft Campbell. How long after that email until interviews start? Would I have already heard back if I was getting an interview?
SandArtJust because you're on a referral list does not mean you will get an interview. I was placed on several before I got my first interview. Luckily, I got the job from the first interview, so be prepared. Boot everyone out of the house so you can have a quiet space to relax.
SandArtCongrats! From my experience it is smooth sailing after orders. I fly to Japan August 6th, so I hope that's smooth too. Could have flown sooner, but I wanted one more weekend with my husband.
Does anyone know if DODEA is suffering like the rest of the U.S. of critical shortages in the areas of Special Education I hold licenses in three areas of SPCED but yet I can't locate information about positions overseas? I have over 34 years in SPCED.
Enter and submit your application (left column), then later, Update and view your application (also left column).
It is too late to be considered for the 2017-2018 school-year unless they are not able to fill a position based on available applicants, but you can start your 2018-2019 school-year application. You will need to update and confirm in around February or March. Make sure the e-mail address and phone numbers you list are the best ones to reach you.
HelpOthersThis is the answer someone gave on the DoDDS Teacher Facebook Page. I used this advice when completing my HHG and UB paperwork, "Steps 1 - 10 are GS 12/O-3 equivalent; Steps 11 - 18 are GS 13/O-4 equivalent. This is from the negotiated agreement Article 38 Section 1."
