angelMr. Fish, when I received my firm offer the email included the in-processing packet. Which had everything you mentioned plus the firm offer letter.
ScholarMy big packet. And with my tentative offer. My firm offer I did not sign and return as my orders served as my firm. The direct deposit and tax forms are to be turned in to your secretary upon arrival -- they are your financial gurus
I was wondering if it was possible to get an update on people's travel dates timeline. For example, how long after final orders did it take to get travel orders? Also, are people starting to get really late dates? We got an email today that our orders are not complete as of yet. What are that chances we will get them next Monday and have to leave the following Monday? We want to go so we are there close to the 10th, but at the same time we are getting to the point where we have a lot of things to take care of and only one week left would not be enough time. Does that make sense or are we over thinking it like everything pretty much?!?!?
An additional stress is that our house is rented out as of the 8th. How is everyone coping with the stress!
As for the travel office, they were great. ...See MoreAgree on the movers, Teach. We got our HHG shipment no problem. However, we wanted to put some stuff in storage and the other company we got would not budge about coming before we have to move out of our house. We did not have a lot, so we decided to just donate what we planned to store locally.
As for the travel office, they were great. They saw me the same day. I requested August 6th and it was not a problem.
ScholarMy firm offer was my travel orders. Once I submitted the travel request the flights were booked within 48hrs. My flight is booked as requested in a few weeks but still await passports
Can anyone tell me about Fort Stewart (pros / cons) for accepting a teaching position there? Housing? Use of the base? Administration? I have a great job now and wonder if it would worth it to relocate.
oregonslpI received that paperwork as well, but I was told I would have an opportunity to fill that out (along with health insurance stuff) when I arrive. I hope they have someone to walk me through it, it's all new to me and I need a little help making sense of it all.
angelHmmm... I don't have it in front of me but I remember having to scroll down. There should be a link for those without CAC to click on. I forgot what the link says.
Just wondering if you can tell me what they look for in the physical in order to be approved to work abroad. Will my high cholesterol remove me from hire? What is required? TIA.
My husband received his firm offer today. Tentative offer June 1, Fingerprints submitted June 30, firm offer July 17. Officially quit our positions in the states. They mildly threatened to report us if they can't find a replacement, but it was definitely a form letter.
I received a tentative offer on July 13th. So now I wait for the process to go forward, but with the knowledge that we are moving to Seoul!
IdaNo, not really. We are both tenured so we don't really sign contracts anymore. Basically, they tell everyone this who quits after April 30th regardless of why they are leaving. Then as soon as they find a replacement it is not a thing. It is odd, because they just started doing this. When my friend left on July 24th in 2011, they didn't flinch.
bondoSounds like you guys work for a Georgia school district. They hit me with the threats last year and I caved in and didn't go. This year, I have my Florida certification as back up and if they want the Georgia certificate...I'll wrap it for them. We are going to Osan.
This is a really weird system I am filing out the same paperwork I did for ddess and they are both dodea but function as two separate entities????? OK I am over it time to buckle down and do that paperwork it's just the way it is.
micorazonkilleenLOL... I think this is one of the reasons they would really like to merge the two entities -- to make the paperwork easier all around.... At least it would make it easier for the internals who are transferring....lol
TeachMy paperwork was limited. I think I did scan/email about 30 pages back to HR, but it didn't seem like a ton in the grand scheme of things. It was definitely more than when I was hired overseas as a local hire in 2013 and back into DDESS in 2016, both while on LWOP, though.
i❤️slpsMy HR rep is not very responsive so I contact her about 2-3 times a week until I get a response. Hooefully, I'll get the e-QIP access soon. Thanks ladies!
