angel Mr. Fish, when I received my firm offer the email included the in-processing packet. Which had everything you mentioned plus the firm offer letter.

SandArt Agree on the movers, Teach. We got our HHG shipment no problem. However, we wanted to put some stuff in storage and the other company we got would not budge about coming before we have to move out of our house. We did not have a lot, so we decided to just donate what we planned to store locally.

Scholar My firm offer was my travel orders. Once I submitted the travel request the flights were booked within 48hrs. My flight is booked as requested in a few weeks but still await passports

Can anyone tell me about Fort Stewart (pros / cons) for accepting a teaching position there? Housing? Use of the base? Administration? I have a great job now and wonder if it would worth it to relocate.

oregonslp I received that paperwork as well, but I was told I would have an opportunity to fill that out (along with health insurance stuff) when I arrive. I hope they have someone to walk me through it, it's all new to me and I need a little help making sense of it all.

Hello all -

Just wondering if you can tell me what they look for in the physical in order to be approved to work abroad. Will my high cholesterol remove me from hire? What is required? TIA.

micorazonkilleen cholesterol isn't checked.. eye exam, tb test, audiology, color blind, eye exam, ekg (over 40)... easy peasy...

Ida No, not really. We are both tenured so we don't really sign contracts anymore. Basically, they tell everyone this who quits after April 30th regardless of why they are leaving. Then as soon as they find a replacement it is not a thing. It is odd, because they just started doing this. When my friend left on July 24th in 2011, they didn't flinch.

bondo Sounds like you guys work for a Georgia school district. They hit me with the threats last year and I caved in and didn't go. This year, I have my Florida certification as back up and if they want the Georgia certificate...I'll wrap it for them. We are going to Osan.

This is a really weird system I am filing out the same paperwork I did for ddess and they are both dodea but function as two separate entities????? OK I am over it time to buckle down and do that paperwork it's just the way it is.

micorazonkilleen LOL... I think this is one of the reasons they would really like to merge the two entities -- to make the paperwork easier all around.... At least it would make it easier for the internals who are transferring....lol

Teach My paperwork was limited. I think I did scan/email about 30 pages back to HR, but it didn't seem like a ton in the grand scheme of things. It was definitely more than when I was hired overseas as a local hire in 2013 and back into DDESS in 2016, both while on LWOP, though.
