I have submitted an access to e-qip form, but I have not received an email that requests specific/detailed background info nor info requesting me to update anything online(e-qip website). Is that normal? It's been 2 weeks.
hahaCancelling is not an issue at all with Softbank on our base but definitely give more credence to what people in Misawa are saying. I've only been up there when coaching for my school (and it wasn't snowing :P).
I'm trying to figure out if I should buy a shovel to bring with me. I haven't had to shovel for 2 years (landlord does it), I was only responsible for my car.
wanderwomanMy district flipped to an annual contract a few years ago, so that part won't matter. I just want to keep it as easy as possible for my principal because she's awesome and has been so supportive of me. I've already sent in my passport info and completed my background check as well. It's literally just me waiting.
Do you think I will get an earlier date if I call another place? Also do we need specific permission to book our own travel? If we don't and the flight is above the reimbursement amount do we get some money back. For example, say the travel amount is $1000 but I spend $1400, what happens?
My HR person sent me info on EBIS presumably to set up my benefits but the link doesn't work. Has anyone set up their benefits yet? If so, what link did you use and what info did you need to start that process? Any special log in? Or did you just set up a new account?
Also - I've started some of the required "training" online preemptively. So far, only 2 will open up or let me complete them without some sort of log in. Did you get credentials to complete these? (found these sites on the on boarding page)
TeachDon't do the trainings, as the school system gives us time to complete those (at least I was always given time in DDESS and Okinawa). Some of the info on that on-boarding page seems to pertain more to folks who work in HQ.
I am asking for advice from people who have done the same. I have been trying to get on with DODEA for about 3 years. I was offered a job stateside and not overseas like I was hoping for. I am specialized so that does help tremendously. I am thrilled to have the offer make no mistake. Should I take a stateside job give 110% and do my best to network and aim for an overseas job if it comes my way?
That has been my overall goal for some time. Does anyone know if you stay active in the system while currently working for DODEA? I'm just trying to get any and all information I can.
Input: Is this adventure worth potentially leaving your family behind for 3-6 months...maybe the entire school year? Which is worse the family resentment for taking them to a place they do not want to go or your personal resentment for letting such a great opportunity go for the second time in two years?
SandArtWhat teach said. Please be considerate of the principal, staff, and the other teacher who could potentially take your place. I have been on teams where we had to help substitutes get started because a teacher bailed at the last minute. It's stressful enough getting your stuff ready, and adding a classroom neighbor who is a sub is not always fun.
