Yeah on the DoDDS Teachers Facebook group there are a lot saying they are going to Sollars. I was wondering if I was going to be the only new one going to Edgren, or if people just didn't post yet (like me).

I emailed Ms. Doran and let her know what happened.. The application packet was express mailed directly from the courthouse to DoDEA. Worse case scenario, Ms. Doran will send the packet back to me, I will have the clerk break the seal, attach the Letter, re-seal the envelope and overnight the packet back to Ms. Doran.

Ms. Doran said so long as she receives packet it should be fine. I just hope I never have to go to the courthouse again. Lol. Well, at least not for passports. Lol

Teachers are required to get the TB test, dependents are not. I already turned all of my paperwork in without a TB test for my children and got my orders.

I was told by HR - only the sponsor needs the physical, TB test, and EKG (if over 40). Your dependents only need a letter from their physician saying they are able to move overseas, medically. I got a checklist from my HR person (Lisa - she is the best!) that was helpful. There were also so helpful hints to help with some of the questions.

Do mind if I ask the date you leave? We haven't gotten final orders, so we wonder how far back the actual leave date will be then we originally thought. Thanks!

Seems like the wrong time of year for anyone in this department to go on vacation :( I have no idea what date I leave yet because I can't get anyone on the phone from the travel office. If you sublet, your LQA will be reduced by the amount you receive, or the allowance will be stopped altogether. This is because LQA is considered "one rent". If you are hired stateside, you pay for your own relocation and housing. However, if going to Guam or Puerto Rico (American Territories). Relocation is covered, but I believe you pay your own housing once there. I am not aware of any vacancies for teacher of the visually impaired right now.

A school in Japan has been looking for a combo VI/Learning Impaired Mild Moderate position for a year (and still is as far as I know). Every time they go to pull a list there is only one or no candidates in the system. It's a very rare cert but also a fairly rare opening.
