I was just wondering those of you that have received a firm offer and orders, what has been the approximate time from receiving your firm offer and the date you are packed out and you are set to leave.
I ❤ spedTeach - 5 days from firm offer to orders! I got the firm offer on June 13 & received orders on June 15. I scheduled pack out & travel this last week. They are scheduling pack outs for mid July at the base closest to me. They told me Express Shipment (Unaccompanied Baggage takes 35-42 days to receive & HHG takes 65-72 days.
TeachIt took 25 days from submission of all of the paperwork after firm offer to orders for me. I am going tomorrow to set up our pack outs and travel.
Got referral Wednesday morning and interview that night for a position in Osan. Got a referral but never an interview for a position at Camp Lejeune ...at least I'm making progress. Really don't feel like I got the Osan position but at least I know they are looking at me.
I just checked again and the target year is set for SY2018-19. I set the target date to SY2017-18 back in March 2017. Since you cannot change the target date, I sent a note to the EASSystemAdministrator@hq.dodea.edu ;
teacher42Actually, I did end up inquiring by Email, and they got me straightened out immediately. I'm not on for 2017-18... better late than never I guess...
I have not seen ANY of the automatic referral notifications like I have in the previous 7 years. I even re-checked my EAS application and everything shows green. Have there been any automatic referral notifications going out?
HelpOthersCheck the school-year next to your transcript and educational certificate in the forms section. These two documents need to be re-uploaded each year. I went a few years with all green check mark, not realizing I needed to upload them again even if no changes had been made.
Bob, thanks for maintaining this board for us and for fixing the glitches. It really is a blessing. I haven't found anywhere else where people share info about getting jobs with Dodea. Thanks again!
TeachEspAgreed. I'm new here as far as posting, but I have been following the discussion for quite some time. Reading about others' experiences and concerns is both informative and reassuring.
TravelingTeacher to DaeguRedClover are you in the San Juan Islands? Just curious because I'm from there and I read that you need to coordinate ferry times (Oh I've been there!).
Redclover711No, I live along the Inside Passage in Alaska on an island near Juneau. They finally got most of the trip booked, but still working on the bush flight out of my village. They had to get extra authorization because of all the steps to get me there. It all worked out in the end though!
I didn't get my travel orders yet... but has anyone been able to use DPS even though the system in unsupported? I have a MacBook pro (MacOS Sierra) and a desktop (Windows 10). When I run a system check, they both say unsupported operation system. :(
Bob R/CAThe page is set to refresh after a certain number of minutes. It looks like the javascript that was throwing a confirmation alert isn't firing. I'll see if I can track it down, sorry for inconvenience....
Well I had my first interview yesterday and I am super excited and nervous. I feel like I did well, but don't want to get my hopes up. If you all could say a little prayer for me, I would appreciate it.
I also have a question. I am currently a government employee for a different agency. Does anyone know if I would need to go through the entire background check? I already have a security clearance, so will that expedite things?
K...See MoreNo problem! We truly love Japan. Most people seem to want Europe right away but we actually started there. Liked it for a few years but really missed Japan (we had taught there before with an int'l school and really wanted to get back here). So, I was able to get a transfer to Japan and my spouse got picked up as a local hire right away.
Kinnick is a relatively large high school and as a math teacher your husband would likely get something fairly quickly. Good luck!
HelpOthersIs your husband's application active too? If he is hired before you arrive there, I believe he also gets CONUS benefits, but if hired after you arrive, is hired as a local hire. Just a thought. congratulations!
