Does anyone know how soon paperwork rolls in after accepting a tentative offer? I've been checking my email like crazy not wanting to miss anything. It's a temporary position and I'm a local hire but I'm hoping it's finally my way of getting my foot in the door so to speak.
My last update was when the school I taught at last year eliminated the choral music program I was teaching in due to budget cuts making it look like I have not been teaching this past year. I was just so stressed about finding a job prior to this school year, and then with all of the adjustments we had to make with the pandemic I had almost completely forgotten about it.
I know as a third year teacher my chances are already pretty slim because there are so many more experienced teachers out there, but is it too late to add that information to the application for this referral?
HelpOthersIf it shows the location of the referral, this might be a case for e-mailing the principal to say that you have new information that was not in the application at the time of the referral and you want to make sure they have the updated information.
@Educate, it was set for the current school year at the time of the referral, but I did update it with everything else.
@HelpOthers it did show a location, where would I be able to find the principal's contact information?
I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much for this as all of my other referrals haven't amounted to anything, but it would be nice to get an interview. The position in question is in Germany, my dad's home country, and I have lots of family there. It would be nice to be able to see them more than once a year. My German language skills are listed in my application, but I'm not sure how much weight that would actually carry....
I recently arrived to Japan as an Speech Pathologist. According to my pay stub, I'm getting an LQA that doesn't seem right (I think I'm getting less money!). Can somebody help me find an LQA chart by Groups? I know this was posted before but I can't find it.
HelpOthersIt is based on the estimate that you provide that includes your rental lease, agent fees receipt, and estimated utilities. Check with your school secretary/finance secretary.
Make sure to include all three school counseling areas on your application (ES, MS SS).
the ration is 250 students per school counselor and this ration is hired out by the school, not the district. Some work at two schools, but most are assigned to one school . The USA Jobs position might be for an ISS. There has been a vacancy for school counseling ISS in the US for a while and I think now there might be one at Headquarters too.
I believe there are current vacancies, so please make sure your application is active and your certs and transcripts have been uploaded to show the current or next school-year, not previous years.
Lots of people retired in November, December, January, February, and even this month. None of them paid back their LQA for the summer of 2020.
You must have a transportation agreement to collect LQA.
But LQA is not connected to your RAT, which sometimes has to be repaid if a person doesn't complete the full one, or two year tour.
Am I right? I think so. But the interpretation of your District office trumps everything. It's no use quoting my post in this thread if you get into an argument with the District office.
But there is a way to win an argument with the District office. Simply read the LQA regulation, and quote it to them in all your emails.
Am I missing something? Are you getting fired? Are you the person that is still on probation?
HelpOthersI believe in order to not pay for summer LQA that you must work through the end of October (or other date within October). That is why most people retire after this date. If you retire/leave earlier, you would owe back for the summer LQA.
hahaDoDEA is generally all about the credit hours. I believe DoDEA would want you to provide transcripts showing 15 credit hours of coursework dealing with gifted education, regardless of whether you have an endorsement or certificate (check the requirement page to confirm).
SlcjklI recently got my DoDEA gifted cert - I technically got 3, because the requirements are the same for eled, ms, and secondary: 15 credit hours. It's likely that you'll need to produce 15 credits in gifted education coursework, regardless of your endorsement.
Maybe this is crazy and I am overthinking things, but does HR blacklist people? I only ask because I sent an email asking about a referral, response never came. I have also emailed recently about p.e. qualifications, and again no response. I don't mean to sound panicked, but it's hard not to be.
Anything is possible, but it's more likely to be a combination of indifference/incompetence than a personal conspiracy against you. You can have your EAS locked if you turn down an offer (and probably a few other things) but even then, I don't believe that cancel you completely or make you persona non grata.
In the past, if an HR person found you annoying and/or just couldn't be bothered to do what they are supposed to do, you could get access to a supervisor and try and get them to give the squeaky wheel some grease. I had to catch a supervisor at a job fair (when they still had those) before I got all of the "qualifieds" that I was supposed to have.
IcanreadThey can submit resignations at any time. Lots of people PCS throughout the year, often following an active duty spouse. In addition, teachers can retire at any time of year. Also, teachers may get an internal transfer (rare but a possibility) or a promotion (moving into admin) which would leave a vacancy.
