An...See MoreThank you to everyone who contributes to this site. I really appreciate the info. I'm new to the process and it definitely helps to hear what everyone has going on. Can someone explain how you get on a referral list? When I talked to HR last week they said they have 4,000 applicants to review. YIKES!
SandArtAllavita, I will be a math support specialist. Not sure if that's the exact title. My contract says Compensatory Education Mathematics . I think you need 12 credits in math. Or it's 15. I kept getting the credits mixed up for compensatory math and being eligible for junior high math.
I got my orders this morning and have been working on starting the moving process. I had to fill out the moving forms through move.mil as a first step before I can get an appointment with the transportation office.
angelYes! We are all moving along! Your excitement is my excitement. Although I'm not at that point yet, it is great to see how we are all progressing.
hahaI wouldn't worry about it. Unless they specifically withdraw this offer and you get another one, it would be very rare that your new post has suddenly changed.
Snow LaneI had a security specialist from Germany helping me, but I'm going to Japan. I think it's just due to workload and doesn't have to do with your station.
Also, I'm looking through the stack of paperwork t...See MoreHi all! Question for you about all of this fun paperwork. I submitted everything but these two pieces. I wasn't sure about direct deposit because I'm assuming we'll have to change banks when we get there. Did you all just go ahead with the direct deposit form for your current bank for now?
Also, I'm looking through the stack of paperwork to designate your beneficiary for FERS, FEGLI, and TSP...am I understanding this correctly that if I'm fine with the standard plan (it goes to my spouse) I don't need to do any of that paperwork?
oregonslpOh good! I hope you're right, Bett, because some of that stuff is a little confusing to me and it'd be nice to have someone to discuss it with.
teacher42Mary-Lorraine, thank you! I had no idea! Silly me! I thought I was just to review everything and did not know I had to re-upload, and the fact that I was given the 'green light' led me to believe all was well. I wondered why I was getting no referrals this year! Ha! Will wonders never cease! Thanks again for taking the time to explain.
There were quite a few papers but overall it was easy, but I wish I had known what the forms were ahead of time and I could have had my daughter get her doctor's visit on the college campus but I got the forms the week of her finals week which was not a good time for her.
If anyone else has not gotten the forms yet and wants them, post your e-mail.
My husband said, "It's frustrating because you need to do steps 1-10, but they won't tell you what steps 3-10 are till you did 1-2."
So true! Do one or two steps. Wait.... while I am waiting it would be nice to work ahead on the next steps.
I am so happy to have this job... I am so happy to have this job..... learn patience....
This morning I received my travel orders! I received a tentative offer the first week of April and a firm offer about two weeks later. I think the early hires got through the process quicker because HR was less busy. Anyways, very excited to get them!
FunspedTeacherCurious where they have you flying into? Airline?I will be heading to a Daegu also. Do they book our flights or just have us do that and reimburse? I will be bringing pets so trying to plan early. I know mine were submitted last week but haven't received them yet....
