I have heard the terms tentative offer, firm offer, and orders thrown around quite a bit and I wasn't sure exactly what each entails and when I can feel pretty safe that I'll be secured with a job for this coming fall.
I have heard that a tentative offer means that I have the job assuming I pass my background check (which should be likely since I don't know why I wouldn't). Is this true? Is there any other reason why I might not get the job despite receiving a tentative offer?
Also, what happens if I don't receive my security clearance until after the start of the school year? Do they just replace me with someone else?
And since my application is still active as I have not received a firm offer yet, does that mean there is still a possibility of other schools interviewing me? What should I do in that case?
BettDon't worry about your account not being frozen yet. I didn't get the inactive email until about a month after I accepted my tentative offer. I did still get referrals, but it's all good it didn't interfere with my processing.
Like other DDESS payscales, the pay scale has the cost of living already included in the base pay. Here is the salary schedule for PR (replace the [dot] with a dot. If I add it here, it seems to automatically send you there before you can read the message). http://www[dot]dodea.edu/Offices/HR/salary/ddess-puertoRico.cfm
HelpOthersIt does say at the bottom of the page stating how many years at specific steps. " Steps 15, 16, 17, and 18 are longevity steps payable upon completion of four years service in steps 14, 15, 16, and 17, respectively.
As for fingerprints, I think it's going to depend on where you are. In Texas, my fingerprint locations had the cards and provided them to you. I didn't have to get cards ahead of time, but I made sure I had the cart type number with me to ensure I got the correct card.
In any case, your insurance will not generally be active/valid until you have arrived at post, completed the forms, the forms have been processed AND they have begun to take the premiums out of your check.
The official blurb is this: As a new or rehired employee, the earliest your health insurance can become effective is the beginning of the first day of the pay period that begins after your election is received and that follows a pay period during any part of which you were in a pay status.
So, that sounds like at least two pay periods from your arrival. So, if you have prescriptions that are required, try and get additional refills/supplies on your old insurance, take out gap/comprehensive travel insurance or be prepared to pay out of pocket at the beginning.
So, was planning on going back to states to where we came here from. I could stay in my house, have family there, etc. They've given us the paperwork to fill out, but we're just totally confused. One of the pieces my husband has to sign is an Excess Cost Agreement for Travel and Transportation Costs. It states on there: The appropriate designated point for obtaining medical care for:________________________ have been determined to be:________________________(designated point). There's also a second form for us to fill out (Request for Employee and Dependent Medical/Dental Travel Authorization) that in section IV. Designated Point we have 2 options to check-One that states, "I elect to travel to the designated point, the facility closest to the PDS, as determined by the Approving Official and based on the advice of the certifying appropriate professional certifying physician. The second states, "I elected a location other than the designated point and agree to pay or reimburse the excess travel and transportation costs incurred by me, my dependent(s), attendants(s)/escort(s), and accompanying family member(s). I have completed, signed, and attached the Excess Cost Agreement to this request.
How do we even find out who the AO is and what is the "designated point?" The form is also asking for date/time of appointment with the new physician, but how do I book an appointment when I have no idea how long the paperwork/orders/travel arrangement part(s) are going to take? This is very confusing and without clear instructions. My doctor here was initially talking about how they normally send military/Navy personnel to Virginia, so I don't know if that would be the "designated point" or what.
Does anyone have any experience with this and can tell me where to go for information. I'm already stressed out about potential health issue, this is definitely not helping, LOL.
hahaSorry to hear it. I had serious health problems with DoDDS in Europe but was luckily able to get treatment in the local area.
I would talk with your union rep. If they do not know the answers to your questions then immediately have them ask for answers from their superior, etc. Someone should be able to get your some answers.
I received an email stating my travel orders are ready to be accessed in TOPS. However, I can not access TOPS as I do not have a CAC card, and just to REQUEST access, I need a dodea email address (which I do not have as a new hire...) So my orders are dangling in front of me, but I can not view them. Anyone else in this situation?
Snow LaneI agree with Oregonslp. I think they're working overtime because she also sent me e-mails at 8:50 am and 10:10am, which definitely wouldn't work with hours in the Pacific.
happyteacherThey have some flexibility in their schedule.... as long as they work 80 hours in the two week pay period. It's possible they are working 10-12 hours to take a friday off.
