Is this common every year? USA Jobs has one posting for AP jobs in Japan ES/MS/HS, and it says there are 'many vacancies'--- Is turnover a big issue in admin jobs in Dodea?
Of course there are vacancies to fill. This is the busy time of the year for hiring. Even at the quietest time of the year, there continue to be occasional vacancies.
And yes, of course, some people retired.
But the bottom line remains the same - there are not "many vacancies" to fill in DoDEA. The current amount of vacancies is just normal for this time of the year.
ecd5You could do DDESS and then back to DoDDS the following SY. Then you don't have to worry about losing your years and you'd gain one for the year in DDESS.

Q2 Anywhere from zero to one year. It depends on your current situation. You can't not provide us important details, and then expect us to give a correct answer.
Q3 Your former DoDEA years would still count.
Q4....ah, this is falling apart.
Mr. Gumball, I don't think anyone could possible answer these questions. You either know what you're doing but haven't given us enough information to answer these questions, or you're not really sure what "competitive service" is, and you're flailing around in the dark,
I can't be sure which it is, because you haven't provided enough background.
ecd5 may have come closest. Are you thinking of taking a job with Ddess?
Listen, it's a Friday, so come back with a few more details, and I'll be happy to help.
Anyone else heading to a new location and concerned how this is all going to play out in these pandemic times? I got my orders for my move to Europe, but have been told that these dates may not hold and depending on the worldwide situation I may have to get amended orders with different dates.Who else is in this boat with me?
IdaI agree. No matter how many times you move there will be new questions and it will be very hard to find someone to answer them that actually knows what they are taking about. Luckily, it tends to work out, but not without a lot of frustration.
MsUThanks, I had a bit of mission fatigue last night. This is one of those things where I "knew" to expect but once encountering it I am more flustered than I expected.
...in Iwakuni (MC Perry HS) just came out as a rare internal opening for current DoDEA Pacific employees. If it doesn't get filled, it could go CONUS. And if it does, that should open up a similar size hole somewhere else in the Pacific.
CordeliaIt took four months for my status to change to qualified. HR says being in pending status will not stop you from getting placed on a referral list, however I did not get on any referral lists until after I was marked qualified.
RL85I had an interview last Friday and they also asked for references. I was told by my current principal that he was contacted by phone immediately after my interview and was asked to fill out the form.
ecd5I am not on 26 paychecks. The HR representative is in Europe. At this time, they are not sure about when I'll be traveling due to travel bans. The HR representative stated "We have specific coding to use for that period up to 2 weeks. I am surprised that CHRA was unaware of that information, but it was recently published."

I have interviewed 1 time for ISS PE Coordinator and did not hear back for some time that I did not get the position. I have applied for numerous Assistant Principal jobs but I have never had an interview.
I do have a PE k-12 license and a Principal license. I have been on about every team possible in my district and I was just given the AD position at my middle school. I have been a district Curriculum Coordinator, given district and school PD, and I new teacher Mentor. I have been in education for 19 years now. Yes, I have put all this on my resume.
My question is, what can I do to stand out more? The job in Naples was my first that came from the EAS site. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. I mean anything that could help me out. Thank you!
ecd5I'd agree that overseas PE is often filled internally. I'd suggest getting more teaching certificates and possibly going stateside DoDEA (DDESS) to get overseas.
apolloHave you tried to contact the principal at the school that you have been pulled from? Seems like Fort Campbell is looking for PE teachers... Good luck.
Shawna11Madrid10, are you saying virtual teaching was reviewed and updated as qualified in EAS? I applied for virtual for ELA,and nothing has been updated. I am hoping there will be some internal hires and then the internal vacancies can also be an option for us outside the system.
