Do many MS/HS electives get canceled or filled by subs when they can't fill it? Someone shared a virtual learning list with me and I saw one-two sections of classes like Spanish, art, drama, music. Do schools just have limited elective options for students or is it possible some of the courses were canceled because they couldn't find a teacher
Sometimes the school might only offer a certain class during one or two periods which conflict with another class the student really wants/needs. Sometimes the school might only have a few sections of the class and they are full. And yes, most of these could be impacted by the size of the school.
If they couldn't find a teacher, they would likely just hire a sub and tell them to do the best they can, whatever the subject was (for good or bad).
The 2nd one is at the virtual high school. I'm not sure if they want someone in Germany, Okinawa, or Virginia. If you want to be considered for virtual school jobs, you must make sure that you have it checked in your application.
I have seen a couple of people recently get hired in, what appears to be, Learning Impaired positions in S. Korea. I have an interview for such a position tomorrow. What type of questions where asked? Can you provide any tips? What was the feel of the interview; was it very formal or a bit more relaxed? Thank you!
I've also seen a lot of SPED referrals get sent out to some recently, but there are also some who have a SPED cert as well, but they haven't had a referral/interview in 2-3 yrs.
IbeforeESo the ranking is done at HR and then send in that order to principal? He/she doesn't have to abide by HR's order —- who would ever know, right ? (Since principal has final say.) Basically what I'm asking is is there any checks and balances to the "system" of preferences (vet, spouse etc)
ecd5@IbeforeE I'm not sure about the specifics, but I'd imagine since there is veteran's preference those candidates would at least be offered an interview first. I'm not sure that HR ranks anyone. I'd imagine that it's computer generated based on your EAS application.
When moving overseas, only one car is included in your shipment right? Has anyone shipped a second car out of pocket? What were the costs? Did DoDEA help with the arrangement of shipping a 2nd car?
HelpOthersKeep in mind if you are still paying off a car loan, some lenders will not allow you to leave the country with a car that has not been paid off.
You must complete the attached DoDEA Exceptional Family Member Program Information Sheet to identify if you have dependents with special needs. At a later time you may be asked to complete a DD Form 2792-1 for each family member with special needs for DoDEA to assess the availability of services. If you have a child with special needs, the DD Form 2792-1 must be completed if you intend to enroll your child in a school funded by the DoD or a school in which DoD is responsible for paying the tuition for a space-required family member.
HelpOthersWow, civilians have not been part of the EFMP process, so with CHRA handling the HR stuff now (military organization) maybe it will now be included...
Without the transfer round, is there any possible way for a DoDDS teacher in Japan to teach in Korea? Are you able to still leave your EAS application open and only have Korea selected with hopes of receiving a referral?
