I am trying to help an educator join this chatboard. They go to sign up with teachers.net and it asks for an activation key. Why can't we find one? Any tips?
I know it might be pointless, but has anyone heard about being qualified if you upload a transcript with a course in progress? Like say, if a course ends 7/20 and I upload the transcript 7/10...do you think it would be approved or denied?
I guess it would be similar to a new graduate adding info in April, awaiting May commencement.
In theory, I...See MoreI would agree that AP certs are one of the rare exceptions. Since AP certification is awarded based on short workshops by College Board, (as opposed to by earning certain numbers/types of college credits and providing official college transcripts) it can be something that the principal requests as a condition for being hired.
In theory, I guess something similar could happen with other courses/certs but it seems to be pretty rare, unless the areas are very hard to fill and/or a very unusual combinations of certs.
Backstory: I created my EAS account back in 2014, but I never completed it until Feb of this year. Fast forward to 2020, since I couldn't remember by acct info, I emailed HR from my personal email with my SSN/NAME and they gave me login info. From there, I just assumed my personal email was linked to my account, but it wasn't.
I then realized I haven't had ONE email from EAS, for anything since Feb. Not an update about account updates, application submission etc NADA
I think any info sent out was sent to my old, deactivated email from 6 years ago.
HelpOthers@SLPnyc- that will depend on the person requesting the interview. They may ask someone to call and make appointments, or they may send e-mails. I think in my case, they were in a hurry and didn't want to wait the time e-mails can take.
Couple of QuestionsAnd remember, you will not automatically get a referral email either. My husband never received an email telling him he made a referral list, but the year he was hired received two emails asking him to interview. He accepted one and here we are.
Do you think with EAS being down several days for maintenance is slowing principals down with interview requests from recent referrals? Do these two things have anything to do with each other?
HelpOthersIf that is the case, they likely cannot pull a referral list. There is so much going on at the schools right now, that hiring is probably on hold a little anyway.
Someone started a Facebook group for teachers trying to get hired with the DoDEA. It's for teachers to share their experience with the process. https://www.facebook.com/groups/538804653677909/
Another question about salary...I've seen some conflicting information on here. After I earned my BA, I started taking classes towards a MA. I ended up moving and didn't finish that degree, but I earned 15 credits. I later completed a different MA. Since earning my MA, I have earned another 15 credits. Would DoDEA count me as MA+30? Most school systems I'm familiar with only will not, but I've heard that FEA won a grievance against DoDEA that requires them to do this. True?
Yes, it also does sound like you would be at Masters +30. As long as the other graduate credits were not part the Masters you are using for qualifying for the Masters salary lane, they should work for Masters +30.
As always, when in doubt , ask HR and then let us know what they say.
Make sure all your transcripts are uploaded and that you confirm your pay before signing that official document.
If you are hired DoDEA USA-Territories, they will likely place you at MA +15. They refused to make a change to my request for something similar despite the court order. However,DoDEA-foreign countries should place you at MA +30. You need to clearly show that those initial 15 credits were issued after your bachelors and not included in your masters degree.
It looks like my application has been frozen. I had 4 interviews last week so I am guessing I will get one of those positions. I just wanted to inform everyone.
HelpOthersWow, that's great. I think the only concern would be losing the anonymity. I don't mind helping people here, but I wouldn't want to get into any trouble...hmmm.
RJBeen on DoDEA 8 years, never heard a mention of a drug test. That being said, if you are caught, you can say goodbye to your career. Recently a district office employee was caught drinking and driving by the base MPs. They sent him home.
IcanreadAs a federal employee, we do receive emails and there are commercials on AFN stating that we are not allowed to smoke pot, even if you are in a country or US state where it is legal. That said, there is no drug testing. If you receive a DUI, you will also probably be fired. DoDEA doesn't mess around with those either.
IcanreadThere are also a few ISS jobs - one in VA, Germany, and Okinawa. If you have a masters and the required experience (different for each one), you can also apply for those. You apply for those through USA jobs, I believe.
