She interviewed me for a position in Feb and I have not heard back. When I went to look her up, her picture and contact information has vanished. Does anyone know what happened?
HelpOthersShe is an area superintendent with Pacific East and was likely filling that need between superintendents. When chosen for a position, HR contact you, not the interviewer. Sometimes, when not chosen, you receive an e-mail and other times, crickets...
I had a referral today for Osan Korea Middle School. Do I have to wait until they reach me out or call me? And 1 week ago, I got a referral for Japan, but they never reached me out. Do I have to wait or did I not make it?
If you get an interview, it will be for Osan Middle High School. Be sure you understand the difference, and how it can impact your position.
Ignore any promises from the principal. When are at a middle high school, it doesn't matter what they hired you to teach. If they need you for middle school, or high school, or both at the same time, they will slice and dice your position as needed, without regard to what was said in an interview. In every school, there is always someone who has to take the short end of the stick.
People often discuss whether contacting the principal has any impact. I feel that contacting the principal has a near-zero impact. I think that it's far more important to follow Haha's advice (I think) to come across as energetic and flexible in the interview.
While waiting, make sure your cell phone number is the only number listed on your application and that you have it on and answer it always. Also, check to make sure your e-mail address is typed correctly. Check it often. If you are asked to interview for a position in a location you do NOT want to go, turn down the interview. If you would consider living there, do your best on the interview and good luck. If offered a position, accept it.
I am sure it has been asked here before but I can't find anything. I have an interview request for Cuba and am wondering about benefits. I know it is considered an America district and on the american pay scale. Do they pay for the move? LQA? COLA or Post Allowance? Thanks!
IcanreadMy understanding is that in Cuba they give you a house but they do not give you any LQA. But they should pay for your move and other overseas benefits.
HelpOthersActually, although though it is supported by DoDEA Americas due to location, it is considered a foreign country and receives all the foreign country benefits. The opposite is true for Guam which is supported by DoDEA Pacific South, but is a USA territory and only provides relocation (not housing etc.).
Is it just me or does everyone feel like a little piece of their soul gets taken away every time you're on a referral list and don't get asked for the interview or when you have an interview and you don't get chosen? This process is so difficult! Stay strong everyone! Year 3 of trying for me.
If I email HR with the list of courses in the master's program I'm currently pursuing, would they be willing to tell me if it would count towards qualification for a position? Or do I just have to wait until I obtain the degree and wait until someone reviews my qualifications in the EAS?
hahaThere is pretty much just the one email posted on the EAS page and no phone numbers for candidates to call these days (last I saw). Maybe it just comes down to who receives your email (I assuming incoming emails get directed to different people).
Before clicking "post" or "comment," copy and save what you typed. Click the "post" or "comment" then refresh your page. If you keep clicking "post" or "comment" it will appear multiple times.
Also, they are lo...See MoreAhhh...I hate phone interviews. I just finished interviewing for the kinder position and I feel indifferent. I could have answered them better, but it is also hard to "read" them. I don't know how much of an impact I made but it's experience, right? I know it was suppose to last 30 minutes but mine ended at 22 minutes. :O
Also, they are looking to fill the position ASAP though. They said that they will put in names for the job by tomorrow but HR can take a while. They mentioned that it could be as early as next week though. So it just depends...
Here are the questions I remember:
Tell me about yourself.
How would you handle a disruptive student?
What does you lesson plan look like?
How do you communicate with parents?
What is your SPEd background?
How do you monitor students and what do you do with your findings?
What are 3 expectations you have of your students?
What experience do you have in a 21st century school?
hahaAgree, it's hard to know for certain. If the other person is a local hire though, they are not generally required to interview CONUS (it's generally the other way around: they have to investigate local before they go CONUS). Hang in there!
