Can someone tell me what I would be qualified to teach with the 0420 Elementary Mild Learning Impairment certification? Would I be able to work as a Student Support Specialist (Resource Room Teacher)? What else might I qualify for? Thank you!
MullinzoThank you @haha! That totally answers my question. :) The SSS, from what I understand, is the pull-out resource room-type teacher. However, I could be mistaken. Thanks for the quick and thorough reply.
hahaNope, like I said, Mild Leaning Impairment is the push in/pull out resource room teacher (at least in any school I'm familiar with/have knowledge of).
Where did you see anything about an SSS position? I've never seen that position or certification on any transfer list or anything (not that I know/have seen everything)?
hahaNo, you are completely restricted to base, otherwise it would probably be one of the more desirable locations.
It varies widely by location. On the whole, I would say more locations require teachers to live off base/post than offer the chance to live on (but I don't know/have the exact breakdown).
Just wanted to say good luck to everyone. It seems this has become a little affinity group working towards similar goals and it will be exciting to see who gets job offers! It's such a dream and opportunity and important mission.
lydiafrazSAME! It is no nice to have somewhere to turn to for advice and information about this whole process! I'm always so grateful for how nice and helpful people are on this chat!
lydiafrazI'm sure you guys feel the same as me and are happy for ANY kind of progress! I hope all you guys still waiting or needing some extra stuff get it figured out! I know my chances this time around aren't very good, but I'm excited for the hiring season to get underway!
Last year, I did not start getting referrals until June. I know last year they had closed some locations and cut programs, so they had to place all of those teachers . I'm wondering if that's the most likely reason my referrals started so late and if I should hopefully expect to see some sooner this year.
TeachinWhen they close a school, or eliminate a position due to enrollment, they excess teachers. The organization then finds positions for them somewhere in the world. If you take it, they move you. If you don't take it, you are choosing to end your employment.
Does anyone know if there are any organizations offer scholarship for civilian spouses? The ones I've found are all for veterans and military spouses... Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!
lalalandI want to get a master's degree that I am interested in. I have considered counseling/ elementary school education / librarian science. I've looked at numerous websites and don't seem to find anything for civilian spouses. What master's degree are you getting from Liberty University? Thanks!
IcanreadI am getting a masters in curriculum and instruction with a focus in gifted education at Liberty. I tried to find the Liberty page where it said DoD employees can also use the tuition discount, but I couldn't find it. You can email or call them for confirmation.
I"d be interested in seeing how many schools are offering classes taught by a Secondary Technology teacher. It sounds like the Design class we had at my school in Europe but do not offer at my school in Japan.
Again, probably an already answered question, forgive me! However this group is very helpful! Looking at you @haha and @Icanread. It was exceptionally difficult finding anywhere to turn to with questions. So thank you to all!! Today's question, what exactly was the benefit to having my application submitted before Feb. 28th?
