I was told after my interview that I should hear this week from usajobs about the position. I have heard nothing yet. Do I email HR? What would be the best address to reach out to? Do I just wait?
I am hoping to get orders soon. I am nervous about getting the orders and not being able to schedule a pack out soon enough. It shouldn't be that busy of a time right now though so that might be in my favor. I am tentatively supposed to start work on March 2nd so I was hoping to get out there a couple weeks ahead of time to get situated. That would require me to pack out two weeks from now. That seems like a push. We will see.
Current dodds teacher. Just got referral for iss in guam. Do any of my years go toward my iss pay schedule? How does pay, housing, work there in comparison to dodds? I'm told you may live in base there, any ideas what that costs in comparison to living on the economy?
Again, my understanding is that LQA is not provided. There are some opportunities to live on base (depending on personal situation/location) with rent set at a market rate. There should be post allowance or equivalent that would offset those costs, to some extent. I saw a figure of $1700 a month thrown out on FB, I think.
Sorry to be so vague. Maybe someone with more first hand knowledge of the ISS positions and/or Guam will post. Otherwise, try FB, if you have not already.
IcanreadI "think" that you get annual RAT but no LQA. I would suggest looking on the DoDEA website or contacting HR to make sure. It looks like rent is very expensive there - starting at $2000 a month. Yikes!
I have always been a California resident and moved back to California after I retired from active duty. While on active duty, if I was stationed outside of California I didn't pay any state taxes. I only paid Calfornia taxes when I was actually stationed in California. Does the same hold for DoDEA employees? Thank you!
If you accept a position stateside, are you paid more vs. overseas as with overseas you receive housing? Is that correct? Also with stateside do they pay for the move like they would for overseas? Any info would be helpful.
LindseyI do hope that is true @haha I have actually decided to keep most of my belongings in non temporary storage and get new things out there. Partly because of the taxes and also because my stuff always seems to break in big moves.
Snow LaneMy understanding is that the process has changed and applications for admin positions are done through USA Jobs as the come open. There isn't a "call" any more.
When completing the VP application, is it okay if some of my responses are In don't have any experience in this area'? I am worried that it will prevent me from being referred. I am strong in other areas, but I have no experience in about 5 out of 25 areas.
I know this has been asked before, I really wish they had a search function on this board. How do the DoDEA steps work? I have 10 years of teaching experience in public schools. I have my Master's +15. Thanks in advance.
IcanreadI believe you would start at step 10 or 11 (I can't remember which) for your time in public schools... but then you would also get your credit for how many years you have taught stateside for Dodea.
hahaThat's my understanding as well. You would get 10 years of public school experience, so Step 11, and then added credit for your DoDEA Americas experience (keeping in mind that we have "longevity steps" starting at Step 14, meaning that you stay on that Step for 4 years before moving up).
Hello all, I had an interview earlier this week and then today, I was notified that I have been referred. Is that a good thing? Doesn't referred mean I just get an interview?
hahaYes, that's what I was trying to say. It does seem backwards that you get a referral, AFTER you have already interviewed for the position. It does seem odd, even for DoDEA. I would think it's just a glitch, but nothing would really surprise me, I guess.
