Manda I got an email for an interview too. My biggest thing was safety for myself and my family.. We could not agree on it so I turned down the interview. I did not want to ruin my chance of any other job. Because I hear once u receive an offer and you decline you can't be offered again until the next school year. All the best to you and your family

If you think you'd instead resign first, then consider DoDDS to not be the correct vocational path for you.

Ankara's (and Izmir's, etc.) Dept of State dependents were, as reported by Stars & Stripes 26 July, authorized to elect voluntary gov't paid departure. No mention was in that article whether this new authorization extended to the dependents of DoD personnel there, but, IMO, it's not an unpredictable event that DoD dependents are, or will-soon-be, also covered by such an authorization, which, if the same recent pattern as was seen for the dependents at Incirlik AB occurs, may well proceed to mandated departures.

When again judged safe enough, DoS and DoD and other agencies dependents may elect to return via gov't paid travel. In the meantime, who is left to teach at Ankara? Tuition- paying students, mostly. FMI, see Bahrain's past U.S. dependent evacuation situation for an example of a DoDDS school continuing to operate with, largely, only tuition-paying students. Alternatively, Ankara, like Incirlik, may see its command chain mandate the temporary complete closure of its DoDDS school until decided otherwise.

What does the above illustrate? To me, that DoD and DoS, and the U.S. gov't in general, take very seriously the safety of its overseas assigned family members. Evacuations aren't common, but *are* anticipated, and are *granularly* supported with gov't regulations and supports and protections every step of the way to Safe Haven. In truly emergent situations overseas (and anywhere in the U.S. too) there is no doubt that I always rather be among well-trained, well-led, well-armed U.S. military personnel, than not.
