So...I guess the hiring freeze does, in fact, affect me. I emailed HR and she told me based on the guidance that they have received, if they had not established a reporting date, the position is "frozen" unless they receive further guidance. She said that they were not revoking my offer at that time, however, they could not establish a reporting date unless they receive further guidance...This has been a total emotional roller coaster for me! When I first interviewed in December I thought I wasn't chosen, but I was actually chosen and now this...SMH. I just don't know...More waiting...

happyteacher Is this for a position for this school year? Or starting in August? I ask because I read something that said "positions that were available before the freeze or frozen". But theoretically any openings after can be filled. I'm not sure that was reliable information though.

infiniti4 Yes, it is for a position for this school year. The principal said that she had gotten special permission last year to hire another teacher because class sizes were so huge. So, they needed someone like yesterday! I read the memorandum that Supernova posted and I'm confused. Between what it says and what HR just told me it all seems clear as mud.

happyteacher That's crazy. Especially since you can't just move overseas at the drop of a hat -- even without the freeze, it would be a few weeks for paperwork and travel orders and such. This is just another unnecessary delay for you, the students, and the school! Makes no sense. I'd like to see Trump teach a bunch of students in an overcrowded class!

haha Sorry to hear that. Hopefully the further guidance will come soon and it will be reasonable (as in since they don't issue start dates until your orders have actually been cut this shouldn't apply to these types of offers/positions). Hang in there.
