It's Been a While

Disclaimer: This is the third time I have typed this post out. I was booted out the first two times, before I wised up and realized I needed to draft this thing out firs in a another application (Copy and paste my friend, copy and paste).

Hey All, I got a late start on this year's hiring scramble, but the application is finally finished, and I have already landed my first referral list. I am curious though — I have I missed the window for hiring in Europe (especially England), or is there still hope? I was offered a position last year in Seoul (for family reasons), but had to turn it down, so I learned this year, not to accept any interview that comes my way. For all of you veterans to DoDEA, is that sound thinking, or am I missing something? Thanks…it's good to be back!!!

Frank On the EAS website, where you select your target locations it says, "You may indicate your geographical location preferences below, however, you will be considered for all locations. Most vacancies occur in the Pacific Area (Japan/Okinawa/Korea)."

SandArt Great info as always, haha. My perception is based on friends who are with DoDEA already. I hope I can transfer to Europe after my 2 years in Japan. I would like to move every 2 years to see the world and teach. When my kids are ready to move back to our home state after college, I want to return too. That's my plan.

happyteacher Chrissy - the transfer round vacancies were posted on the DoDEA site in January. You may still be able to see them if you search the site. However, I'm assuming most have been filled. Some did not get filled, as the position I accepted, was listed in the transfer round which means that no one high enough on the transfer list had those certification...See More
