What does a credit check have to do with how well one teaches their students? We all have moments in time when our credit looks good or bad. When a person teaches for a district that has been at a stand still and have not seen a raise in years, it will put you in somewhat of a struggling position. I feel that one's credit is irrelevant when it comes to applying for a teaching position. As long as the bills are paid on time that should be all that matters.
SandArt I think it shows your responsibility. ?? If your bills are paid on time, then your credit should be automatically good, right? Wanderlust When a teacher is behind 4 years on pay and COL continues to go up, it puts a strain on the way we are able to spread things out. Teach I believe it has to do with being on a military base and having access to things "regular" people might not have access to. If you are majorly in debt and dealing with bad credit, you are a risk. SandArt I agree, Wonderlust. Was just throwing out an idea as to why they may care about credit. My husband is a retired police officer, and we know some who left the police department for FBI. haha I think it probably has more to do being part of the picture for determining security risk, etc. We don't get security clearances but I think it is their version of trying minimize potential problems.
