Teaching Jobs on Teachers.Net

Hi all! I'm just wondering if any of you have considered applying for non teacher jobs on the USA Jobs website as a way to get your foot in the door? I saw a few positions for after school program coordinators in areas where I would love to teach but I'm not sure if this would be a helpful venture for a year to get my self known or not. Cons are I would take a pay cut and moving expenses aren't paid for but I may be willing to sacrifice those things if it would get me a better opportunity of teaching in Europe in the next few years. Any insight or advice would be appreciated!!!
haha I have heard of people doing it (as in one or two) but it is tricky. If you are in the commuting area already, then technically you would be a local hire and would not get housing, transportation, etc (unless it was offered as an incentive to take the base job).

Teach I would be careful with those types of jobs as many do not offer housing or other benefits. Also, the salaries are often inflated in the posting, sonyou could make even less. I know that many of our aides do not make as much as their job posting listed, for example. If you take a job in Europe, then try for a teaching job, you'd be considered a loc...See More
