I recently found out about the special education assessor position (0415). It sounds like that person does a lot of the work that I currently do as a school psychologist regarding evaluations for special education eligibility. Do any of you know, how involved is the school psychologist in the special education evaluations and re-evaluations? Does the special education assessor do the majority of the report writing for the evaluations? Thanks to any of you who have knowledge or experience with this.

haha Basically what ML wrote. School Psychologists generally do intellectual assessments, FBA's and develop/oversee 504s (as well as some counseling, crisis intervention, etc).

SPED Assessors generally act as assessment case managers for new referrals, conduct achievement testing (and some other testing), write syntheses, etc.

Frank Thanks for the info. The psych job with DoDEA is sounding better to me all the time, as right now I am doing all of that plus a bunch of administrative work for much less pay (in Arizona).
