I have had 22 referrals in the past 6 weeks, no interviews. I reached out to some principals in hopes of increasing my chances. This is for an Assistant Principal position. I have related work experience, 4.0 GPA, great references and scored high on the DODEA rating. It's frustrating and very stressful, and now the earliest referrals are going past the 30 day mark.

I can't imagine why I can't at least get an interview. Is this normal?

happyteacher hmmmmm how long have you been out of the classroom? Would you consider applying for teaching as well to try and get your foot in the door? Especially if you have a hard fill area like math/science or SPED

Teaching I am an internal applicant and have received 18 referrals with no interviews. Are you external? There are 111 internal applicants and 500 external applicants. I wasn't sure if they referred internal applicants first or if it is all based on the referral score for both types of applicants.

DodeaHopeful JJO, where are you getting your numbers? I've always heard there were thousands of people that sit in EAS waiting to be hired.

Teaching It is a different process for admin. We applied through USA jobs, and we all received our scores along with how many applicants were qualified. So, we at least have a better idea of how competitive we are, but it is frustrating when there are many openings and the hiring process isn't very clear.

Bett Oooh well that makes sense then. It's nice to know where you stand in the ranking system, but at the same time I can see how that doesn't dim any of the stress! This is the most stressful hiring process I have ever been through, mainly because of the not knowing what's happening, what's next, etc. etc. That said I'll take it if it lands me my firm ...See More
