We are going on my husband's orders. I am also an educator so I am hoping to find a job as well. I was contacted about a part time position. This is relieving because it will allow me to keep my hand in the field, but possibly allow time for helping my daughter with the transition.

What benefits or salary conditions do part time people have? Also, what are the chances I can still be considered for full time openings, or will I for sure be part time all year 1?
Scholar I got no benefits as a parttime mil spouse (I don't know if teacher spouse would be different but I know parttime was offered half housing and mil spouse local hires were offered half but mil spouse parttime gets none). It's still a great deal being part of the school! Parttime DoDea positions do not count toward steps/experience

haha It depends. If you are hired while still in the states you would in theory get .5 of all of the usual benefits. If not, you would be considered a local hire and would likely only get .5 post allowance. HelpOthers Because you are going on your husband's orders, there would be no negatives to accepting a part-time position except that the union cannot support you as much, but the first two years, as a provisional employee, they cannot help either.
