Agree it will vary wildly. Many/most people find it extremely worthwhile. The children/teens seem to quite enjoy their DoDDS experience and technology let's them stay in touch with old friends much more than in the past. I don't know many people who would turn down overseas DODEA jobs 2 years in a row.... Did you have a discussion with your family prior to accepting the position and they were onboard? What teach said. Please be considerate of the principal, staff, and the other teacher who could potentially take your place. I have been on teams where we had to help substitutes get started because a teacher bailed at the last minute. It's stressful enough getting your stuff ready, and adding a classroom neighbor who is a sub is not always fun.
